What’s the fastest way to get fruit to market? Why, fire it out of a cannon and then roll it downhill, of course.
That’s the premise behind the wonderfully quirky Farm Punks, which sends you zooming down a wild obstacle course as you pluck a fruit and then try to guide it safely to the shops.
You’ll guide each fruit with your finger, swerving trees, rocks and buildings. Flick forwards and backwards and you’ll gain momentum or apply the brakes, while holding your finger and then releasing lets you jump.
But this is no endless roller: fruit bruises easily, and getting it into a sales truck intact is crucial if you want to make a tasty profit. Risk going further and you may have to mulch your fruit for less reward.
The trick is to keep off the floor as long as possible. Aim for boost pads which send you shooting over large distances, or look for fans to lift you to higher ground.
Meanwhile, mounts will take you for a short ride: on the ground you’ll find unicycles and tractors, while airborne mounts like parasols and crop dusters let you briefly take to the skies.
Achieving individual goals with a particular type of fruit – such as reaching a certain distance or grabbing 20 seconds of air time – levels it up, increasing its health and sell price. With the profits you earn you’ll soon have an orchard bearing all manner of juicy delights.
From regular apples and lemons to beach-bum coconuts and skateboarding dragon fruit, there’s a huge variety, and they all handle differently. A strawberry shortcake doesn’t last long but can grab serious air off a ramp, while rolling raisins are hard to keep together, but if you lose one it’s not game over. With collectable cogs that can boost your cannon’s range or unlock new mounts, Farm Punks ensures you’ll even make progress on a bad run. And when it’s all going well and you’re shooting off ramps and boosting off walls...well, you’ll believe a mango can fly!
