Thank you for your feedback, and we’re very sorry for the inconvenience. We understand how frustrating it must be to select the Chinese interface but still see many parts of the app — such as nutrition tips, ingredient names, and search — showing in English.

Our team is working on improving localization so that all content, including search terms and recommendations, appears in full Chinese. In the meantime, some searches may only return results in English due to limited translations in our database.

結果先說！是詐騙！是詐騙！是詐騙！

第一次用一個App 這麼生氣
介面設定繁體，結果食譜都是英文，中文根本搜不到東西….

而且一開始的引導介面告知七天免費，告訴你可以先設定信用卡付款資訊，但可以在試用期結束前取消訂閱，結果先輸入付款資訊後，直接給你全額扣款，然後七天的試用期也直接沒看到，也都沒有聯繫退款的介面
當下被刷卡扣全款且沒有七天試用期時，當下直接用APP 內的（與我們聯繫（是Mail））告知狀況，到現在快一週了 都還沒有人聯繫

真是太過分，完全是詐騙

Let me get straight to the point: This is a SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

I have never been so furious with an app before.

First, I set the interface to Traditional Chinese, but all the recipes are in English, making the Chinese search function completely useless.

More importantly, the onboarding process advertises a 7-day free trial. It prompts you to enter your credit card details with the promise that you can cancel your subscription before the trial period ends. However, the moment I entered my payment information, I was immediately charged the full subscription fee. The promised 7-day trial was nowhere to be seen, and there is no interface or option anywhere to request a refund.

I used the in-app "Contact Us" (which is an email form) to report this fraudulent charge immediately after it happened. It has now been almost a week, and I have received absolutely no response.

This is completely outrageous and nothing short of a fraudulent scheme.

About the charge & trial

On iPhone, Apple alone manages billing, trials, and refunds via the App Store. Developers (including us) cannot charge your card, view your payment info, cancel on your behalf, or issue refunds outside Apple’s system.

In some cases, Apple authorizes or charges immediately when a trial is started. This behavior is entirely controlled by Apple, and we cannot override it.

How to cancel (to stop future renewals)

Open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Eatr → Cancel.

How to request a refund from Apple (step-by-step)

Go to reportaproblem.apple.com

Sign in with your Apple ID

Find the Eatr purchase

Click Request a refund → pick the closest reason (e.g., “Charged during trial / trial not applied” or “Item fails to work as expected”)

In the text box, include: you selected the 7-day trial, were charged immediately, and the app did not meet expectations (language/search issues).
Apple typically reviews within a few business days and emails you the result.

If the online form denies automatically, re-submit with details or contact Apple Support (in the Apple Support app → Subscriptions & Purchases → Request a refund). Apple is the only party that can approve/issue your refund.

About Traditional Chinese & search

Today, the interface supports Traditional Chinese, but recipe content and search are still primarily English. We know this is disappointing; full recipe translations and Chinese search are on our roadmap and actively being worked on.

We’re very sorry for the confusion and the delay you experienced. If Apple asks for proof of developer contact, you can forward their reply to support@eatr.app
and we’ll provide any statement needed to support your refund request (we still can’t issue it ourselves).

爛透了！一開始顯示試用7天，結果跳出月費、季費、年費，照理應該要等7天試用期結束若沒有取消訂閱才開始扣款。結果直接不提供7天試用期就給我直接扣三個月的款$790。超生氣！重點系統超難用！

1. 廣告說可以輸入現有食材生成食譜，結果選了食材一直無法生成食譜，一直顯示錯誤
2.食材只能用英文輸入，中文一律不支援
3.完全沒有教學指引，爛透了，憑什麼收我$790，我覺得被騙錢了

Terrible! At first it said there was a 7-day free trial, but then it jumped straight to monthly, quarterly, and yearly fees. It should only start charging after the 7-day trial ends if you don’t cancel. Instead, it skipped the trial completely and immediately charged me for three months — $790! I’m furious! And the system is incredibly hard to use!
1. The ad claimed it could generate recipes from existing ingredients, but when I selected ingredients it kept showing errors and never generated anything.
2. Ingredients can only be entered in English — it doesn’t support Chinese at all.
3. There’s absolutely no tutorial or guidance. It’s awful. How dare they charge me $790 — I feel scammed!

We’re truly sorry for your experience — being charged (for 3 months “790”) when you expected a 7-day trial and then hitting errors is incredibly frustrating.

About the charge & trial (Apple / App Store):

All billing, trials, and refunds are handled exclusively by Apple. We do not receive your card details and cannot charge or refund App Store purchases from our side.

Apple may skip a trial if one was previously used on the same Apple ID/subscription group, if the selected plan/region doesn’t include a trial, or if the Apple confirmation sheet showed an immediate charge “today.” Taxes/bank fees can also affect the final amount shown.

How to cancel & request a refund (step-by-step):

Cancel (access remains until expiry): iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Eatr → Cancel.

Request refund: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find the Eatr charge, choose Request a refund and state you enrolled expecting a 7-day trial but were charged immediately.

If auto-denied by Apple: reply to Apple’s email/decision or start a Chat/Call with Apple Support and explain the situation.

If you want us to support your appeal, please send your Apple receipt (no card details) and Apple ID country/region; we’ll add a developer note to your case (final decision remains with Apple).

About the feature issues you reported:

“Generate from ingredients” shows errors — Please:

Update Eatr in the App Store

Force-quit & reopen the app

Profile → Restore Purchases (refreshes entitlements)

If still failing, delete & reinstall (this clears corrupted cache)

If it persists, send a screenshot and the steps you took so we can escalate with logs.

Chinese ingredient input — You’re right: while the interface supports Chinese, certain ingredient fields still rely on English. We’re actively expanding full Chinese ingredient support and localized recipe steps.

No tutorial/guidance — We’re rolling out clearer onboarding tips and a guided first-run to prevent exactly this confusion.

If you’re seeing paywalls despite having paid:

Confirm in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions that Eatr is active with the correct expiry.

In Eatr, tap Profile → Restore Purchases.

If it still asks you to pay, reinstall the app and try again. Your purchase is not lost.

We sincerely apologize for the frustration and the time you spent. While Apple controls charging/refunds, we’ll do everything we can to support your refund request and fix the issues you faced.
