Description

World's first & only Underground Rock Face Mapping, Sampling & LiDAR Scanning App for iPad.

As flexible as mapping on paper but with all the benefits of a fully digital workflow. Record geotechnical information and capture rock faces as georeferenced photographs or photorealistic 3D LiDAR scans for direct use in geological modelling, grade control and mine planning.

Rock Mapper is packed with powerful features:
- 3D LIDAR SCANNING. Generate photorealistic 3D models of rock faces & drives by only using an iPad Pro, directly in the field.
- AUGMENTED REALITY*: Share & re-visit photorealistic LiDAR scans in AR.
- PHOTOGRAPHY. Take rock face photographs with the iPad's built-in camera.
- GEOREFERENCING. Register rock face photographs and 3D LiDAR scans based on a single reference point or drive direction laser station.
- MAPPING. Directly map onto rock face photographs & 3D LiDAR scans using fully customisable mapping layers.
- GRADE CONTROL. Record face samples & sampling domains by directly drawing onto the rock face photograph or 3D LiDAR scan.
- Q SYSTEM. Dedicated tool for rock mass assessment (after Barton et al 1974) right at your fingertips.
- REPORTING*. Auto-generated mapping reports & sampling reports (PDF format).
- CLOUD SYNC*. All data immediately available on your desktop computer and other connected devices in a ready-to-use format via the Rock Mapper Cloud.

*PRO feature (available with subscription)

Our clients love the data consistency, data fidelity, ease of use and time savings enabled by Rock Mapper. Lift your geological/geotechnical mapping & grade control workflow to a whole new level. Become a Rock Mapper today.

What’s New

Version 3.2

Hurray. The World's first 3D Grade Control Solution is here :)

- Sampling Domains for LiDAR Mesh Scans: Use the Apple Pencil to assign geological domains to a LiDAR mesh scan. The app will automatically calculate area percentage values for all domains. 3D domains can be exported as textured mesh (OBJ+MTL+JPG) and/or in CSV file format.
- Sample Sets for LiDAR Mesh Scans: Enhance your grade control with the ability to add Linear Sample Sets (e.g., Channel Samples) or Point Sample Sets (e.g., Grab Samples) directly to a LiDAR mesh scan, all in full 3D. This feature also includes options for adding QAQC data (Duplicates, Blanks, Standards) as well as Sample Attributes.
- 3D Mapping & 3D Sampling Report: Users can manually frame the report image for both the Mapping Report and the Sampling Report in case the automatically captured image of the 3D LiDAR scan isn't to their likings.
- Increased LiDAR Mesh Scan Size Limit: Users can now capture LiDAR mesh scans that are up to 20% larger in a single session compared to version 3.1.
- Other Improvements:
a) Author button has been removed. Now, the Mapping Author and Sampling Author are entered through the FaceID window by tapping on the title on the Mapping Page or Sampling Page.
b) New Rock Mapper server locations for Africa & Latin America
c) New option to quickly fill sampling domains (Only fill Unknown)
d) Wide Brush toggle has been replaced with an option to select from three different brush sizes for assigning sampling domains in 2D and 3D
e) Improved handling of long text in PDF reports
f) Additional metatdata available in [FaceID]_metadata.csv file
g) Stepper buttons added to 'Rotate to Align' tool to allow for a more precise LiDAR scan rotation / georeferencing
h) Auto-hide georeferencing toolbar as soon as all georeferencing information has been entered
i) Visibility toggles (show/hide) have been replaced with visibility sliders for mapping annotation layers and sampling domains
j) Face outline now also saved in DXF format and included in Rock Face ZIP file
k) Improved alert messages
l) SampleID field length has been extended by removing delete button (trash icon). Individual samples can now be deleted with a swipe left gesture.
m) Total Area and Filled Area for Sampling Domains as well as percentage values for all domains relative to Total Area or Filled Area are now shown in the app and included in the Sampling report PDF.
n) Overall speed and memory improvements. Faster is better :)

Happy Rock Mapping :)
