This is a free app download. Within the app users can purchase the current issue and back issues.

Subscriptions are also available within the application. A subscription will include access to all regular issues in the app for the duration of your subscription. Access is lost once your subscription expires.

* Payment will be charged to your account at confirmation of purchase. Subscription automatically renews. Your credit card will be charged for another subscription period unless you change your subscription preferences.
– The account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal
– Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings in the App Store after purchase. No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during active subscription period.
– Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable

Bad UX

pretty frustrating UI for reading magazine issues.
It's just not convenient.

For inspiration, please take a look at the Economist app.
They nailed it.
