The quality of Internet is hideous!
Bought Mobitel SIM card after the locals’ advice.
Their website shows that 4G coverage is perfect where I am staying (Dikwella), but it’s really bad.
With 3 signal bars and 4G status showing I cannot watch YouTube in 360p (!!!) - it falls back to 144p.
I also have travelled to the center of the island (Kandy, Dambulla, Nuwara-Elliya), and the internet quality was rarely good, average at best.
So I paid for 60 GB of data, but I can’t really use it.
Considering all this and the fact that Sri-Lanka mostly has limited traffic packages (except couple super slow unlimited ones), I can confidently say that they are at least 15 years behind all civilized world Internet-wise.
