Editors’ Notes

With your iPad and Apple Pencil, design complex 3D models – no desk, mouse or keyboard needed. The ability to work offline means you’ll be able to sketch and design from anywhere.

Awesome, but somewhat expensive for a hobbyist

The software itself is amazing, especially if you don’t really care for your designs to be fully parametric. Allows to design simple parts in minutes, then quickly iterate using in-place editing. My only grievance is I’d love to support the developer, but 30 per month is a somewhat steep price for essentially a toy, which is my use case. Especially given Fusion 360 is still free for non-commercial applications. Maybe introduce a middle level “hobbyist” subscription tier, something along the lines of 5-10 dollars for all the import export restrictions of the free version but with unrestricted/less restricted numbers of designs? Quite frankly the free edition is still perfectly useable for hobbyist 3D printing if you keep all your parts in the same file and just hide/unhide stuff as needed, so why leave money on the table, a lot of non-professional users could’ve been paying if not for the rather “professional” price tag. I understand Parasolids is not free and a lot of effort went into the product itself, just my two cents.

Great tool.

I’m modeling bunch of things for the learning purposes, and tried different software, after Onshape, Fusion360 and TinkerCad, I definitely returned to Shaper3D. For my purposes it suits the best, and full functionality which it provides on the IPad is simply amazing, as well as possibility to use it on a desktop machines. OnShape provides kind a similar functionality, but it is not so intuitive, and it fully depends on the internet connection. Fusion 360 is great, but again it is not so intuitive even thou it provides a bit more in terms of functionality, but the worst thing is that it does not have an IPad implication, which tights you to the desktop. Which in my case, is not something I could do for 100% of the time.
