Ahhhh, the ’80s. The decade in which gaming went mainstream, legendary franchises launched and entirely new genres were created that still define the gaming scene to this day. Fun fact: did you know that the world’s first mega-hit first-person shooter game was created back in 1980? It seems fitting then that FPS hit Call of Duty: Mobile is returning to the decade that started it all.
You might remember that the ’80s was the decade of action heroes named John, who captivated the world by walking on broken glass, unleashing explosive arrows, rescuing their daughters and saving the day.
And because the law of the universe dictates that two awesome things must combine (or shall we say, John together) to transcend greatness, the new ’80s-themed event for Call of Duty: Mobile is here. Starting 20 May, cinema legends John McClane and John Rambo enter the beloved game to deliver old-school lessons on how to be a tough-as-nails action star.
This two-week event introduces a new game mode. Rack up an impressive enough kill streak in this mode to become either McClane or Rambo, which will grant you extra health, dual wielding guns and a pumping rock soundtrack in the background, so you can become a walking legend on the battlefield and deliver your favourite one-liners.
Even better, you can keep up with the Johns in other game modes as well thanks to two new Epic-level content bundles. The Die Hard and Rambo bundles (available 20 May) come with their leading star and blueprints for their signature weapons, plus parachutes and vehicles for Battle Royale mode.
Play Call of Duty: Mobile now to experience good old-fashioned action with the latest advances in graphics and gameplay; and stay tuned after this event as a new season will dawn soon, replete with fantastic Western-themed events, characters and weapons. In addition, the upcoming Clan Wars feature promises to add a new layer to the game, as clans compete for territories every week.
