Intuitive and works great

I regretted my LIFX purchases for a long time. I bought a bunch of bulbs and eventually strips because the hardware was objectively great: the brightest whites and most vivid colors of any manufacturer, and as it turns out, really durable too. But for a lot of years, onboarding was dicey at best, firmware updates were a thing to avoid, support was dismal, and the apps were weak and confusing. For a while, HomeKit was the saving grace. Well all the negatives have changed. Onboarding is smooth, firmware updates are quick and reliable, and the apps are powerful and polished. No, I don’t work for LIFX, I’m just really impressed with the product. The thunderstorm and firestorm apps are easy to use and configure, and do exactly what they advertise. To the one who complained about the lack of bass in the thunderstorm app, turn your speakers up louder, then turn down the rain sound but leave the thunder fx at 100%

My only concern is the lack of a hub. That was a selling point for me at first because I didn’t see what was coming with home automation. I tend to upgrade my routers to something near the high end every couple of years, so having a ton of wireless devices may be less of a problem for me, but as I acquire more, I worry that all these lights and light switches and outlets and thermostats and firesticks and garage door openers and alexas and smart TVs and doorbells and cameras will start creating conflicts. It’d be awesome if LIFX sold an optional hub to offload their products from the router. But I digress.

The only reason I rated the thunder/firestorm 4/5 instead of 5/5 is that I know a lot of people ignore the 1 and 5 star reviews, and I’m serious about the praise I’m lavishing on LIFX. This is a 5-star app, a 5-star bundle, and a 5-star product. Well done, my dudes.
