Cool, missing options
Initially had problems with logging in, but those appear to be resolved with iOS 14.6. Support was very responsive while trying to resolve. Some minor annoyances - if you have to re-pair a garden with a new account, no way to adjust “plant” date so you’re stuck with incorrect timeline until you harvest. Similarly it is nice that membership sends new seed pods corresponding to growing length of current plants, but still need a way to edit shipping date short of canceling & restarting.
Unit is defective. Support gives you the run-around
I’m extremely regretful about buying the “SmallGarden” from Apple’s store. Immediately I knew the sensor that measures the water reservoir was defective. The support is responsive but only as so far to tell you nothing could possibly be wrong and that “engineering” will push you the beta firmware which should solve all my problems…well it didn’t. The starter-basil pods they give you were ruined (half of them) because the app never told me the water was low-WHICH IS THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE PRODUCT. Now the app just told me the water was low BUT IT WASN’T AND WATER OVERFLOWED AND I HAD TO TAKE EVERYTHING OUT AND CLEAN MY ENTIRE COUNTER. Is the app well designed? Sure. Is the product itself? NO. The sensor is fixed to the system and not removable. So id my sensor is to blame I can’t just disconnect it. The entire SmallGarden has to be replaced. Clearly this product isn’t ready for prime-time. It is too expensive to not work as expected or advertised. Over a month ago I was told I would hear back from the support rep after engineering decides if my unit should be replaced….no one responded. Now I am demanding a refund or replacement…let’s see how unwilling they are to do either…*sigh
Technology Doesn’t Work Well
I would give this 5 stars, but the sensor/notifications to refill the water - which is the main draw of this device - don’t work properly. I’ve never received a notification to add water. Instead, the sensor reads 25% for days while my plants wilt from dehydration. I’m sure my plants would be dead if I actually waited long enough for the app to notify me that they need water. Instead of relying on the inaccurate sensor and lack of notifications, I’ve taken to adding 32 ounces of water every 4-5 days. By completely ignoring the sensor and not waiting for notifications from the app, my plants are thriving.
Please fix this major flaw. The sensor should prompt the app to send me a notification when the water level is at 25%, not when it is completely dry… and probably too late for the plants.
