“新宁远”APP是由湖南日报社打造的移动新媒体产品，充分利用湖南日报社开发建设的“新湖南云”数据资源，实现与“新湖南云”互联共融，共享新湖南云稿库、政务云数据等，突出“宣传+服务”功能，凸显“共建+互通”优势。
“新宁远APP”是宣传宁远县政策的主平台，发布宁远信息的主窗口，推介宁远形象的主渠道，引导宁远舆论的主阵地。“新宁远”APP不仅设置了宁远、旅游、文化、乡镇、永州等多个频道，还综合应用文字、图片、动图、H5、直播、视频、全景VR等新技术手段，打造全新的县区宣传融媒体产品，是宁远人的“掌上精神家园”。
