A free app that makes keeping track of your child's reading both easy and fun!
The 1000 Books before Kindergarten reading program encourages parents and caregivers to read to children ages five and under. The goal of reading 1,000 books before kindergarten is to provide your child the learning readiness skills needed to enter kindergarten. It may sound like a daunting task, but if you read just three books every day, at the end of one year you will have read 1,095 books.
This app makes keeping track of the books both easy and fun.
*Anyone who reads to your child can easily track books by using the scanner on their mobile device to populate the list (simply scan the UPC code on the back of the book)
*Titles read multiple times are allowed and can be scanned in multiple times
*Titles that aren't found by scanning can be manually typed into the list
*Get reading tips when you log in
*Up to 5 children can be added to one account, each with a separate reading list. (If you have more than 5 children under the age of 5, you can add another account.)
*Unlock "rewards" within the app when your child reaches specific numbers of books.
*Check with your local library for possible additional fun rewards along the way and proudly show them your list once you've reached 1000 books!

Nice app, but needs a boost from Google to make it great
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten app has helped us track our toddler’s reading progress for the past 2 years (he’s now 3 and we’ve read over 1,000 books). I would love it if the developer could partner with Google for a better title search function within the app (Google if you’re listening this is a valuable app promoting early literacy, caregiver/chid bonding and sooo much more through reading). It would also be great to see which books were the most read ones on our list. A small glitch is that it seems to delete some of the books we previously added to the library, and books we didn’t add to our library have shown up. No prob we just add the deleted back in. We don’t live in Wisconsin, but really found it useful!
I too had problems with my account after downloading the new version of the app. I reached out to my library who then reached out to the development team. The development team worked really hard to restore my account and now it's back up and running and I am super pleased with the upgraded amenities! It's so much easier to add new books and books that you've already read. I want to thank the app developers for quickly resolving the issues that I was encountering as well as creating a great app!!
Developer Response ,
Hi, this is the librarian that helped create this app. We recently migrated the data & updated the version to include new features. Unfortunately some of the data didn't come over on the first go. Please know we are aware of the lost book issue. I understand how frustrating it is to have books go missing. We are working on recovering the data. Please accept our apologies and we hope you will hang in there.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
