Webster considered "education useless without the Bible" and while he cautioned against too extensive use of the Bible in the schools as "tending to irreverence" he reiterated...

"In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed... No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people."

Noah Webster, the Father of American Christian education, wrote the first American dictionary and established a system of rules to govern spelling, grammar, and reading. This master linguist understood the power of words, their definitions, and the need for precise word usage in communication to maintain independence. Webster used the Bible as the foundation for his definitions thus making the 1828 Dictionary a work that contains more Biblical definitions than any other reference work.

Wonderful dictionary!!!

This is a great resource when reading older books or the AV/KJV Bible.

Thank you for publishing this dictionary!

wish i could give it -10 stars!!!

I have seen the webster 1828 dictionary and this is the most pathetic and pitiful excuse of a "dictionary" that there could possibly be. its missing 95% of the real 1828 dictionary. on so many words it gives only 1 out of 5+ definitions for the word, sometimes the 1 they give is the least used or most obscure or abstract definition it could possibly gave.

the definition for "god" was this:

GOD, (verb transitive) To Deify [Not used]

Shak.

... thats it! ^ thats all it says, for the word.... GOD.

you tout this as a biblical study tool and that is the definition you choose to put for the word "God".... I think that says it all, and there are thousands of words like this. (and what the heck does "Shak" mean or help anyone by being there?? literally dumbfounded at the complete and absolute crap this app is. if it was a physical thing I would literally bring it to your house, burn it in front of you, and shove it in your garbage can and then demand a refund. But dont worry, i am going directly to apple for a refund. Then I am reporting this app for fraudulant/false advertising, with pictures and detailed examples.

Shame on you....

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your review. It has alerted us to the issue that it gives an entry for each type of instance (noun, verb, adjective, etc.). The full definition of the words are all there, including 'God'. It simply lists the verb first. If you scroll through all the instances of God, you will get to the entry for the noun and get the definition you are looking for. Sorry for this inconvenience. We do feel strongly about this dictionary being complete with all original data. Look for an update in the near future to correct they manner in which the words are displayed. Thanks.
