Worth the yearly subscription

This app's 10$ yearly subscription is absolutely worth it. Although I consider myself a workaholic, I do find myself going down rabbit holes. So it's not that I binge-waste a bunch of time. It's just that when I have access to google in my research, it allows me to go down rabbit holes that are irrelevant to my lectures. Therefore, I use this to simply have my document page and research program open... using my resources within the research program. When I am tempted to chase a thought on Google, this keeps me grounded. I'm really sold on this app, especially it's great price. Anyone who wants greater focus and the ability to be more productive with time, this is the app.

Think of this. 5 minutes of this or that every couple of hours adds up to 30 minutes up to 2 hours per day. What a waste of time when that time can be redeemed. Get after it!

More I Use = More Flawed It Gets

The longer I use this app, the more I become aware of its long list of limitations. Despite the fact that I have had a subscription for a month or so now, which I now fully regret purchasing, I continue to find issues with this app. I have spent many hours frustrated with how this app functions. First, the fact that there is no option to switch on or off non-active scheduled blocks, like you can with the iPhone Alarm app, is ridiculous and a huge inconvenience to me. Instead, if I no longer want something repeated, I literally have to remake all the blocks ONE BY ONE, which is extremely tedious. Furthermore, the fact that the only repeat options are daily, the entire weekend, every weekday, or just one day of the week is ALSO extremely annoying. Want to schedule a block for Monday and Wednesday? Well, your only option is to create two separate blocks instead of just one because of how this app is built. Lastly, being unable to adjust a block's timing sometimes becomes a huge irritation. I understand the intention is to prevent our bad habits from not adhering to the block but sometimes, I have to adjust the time. However, I'm only allowed to do so after the block has passed, forcing me to wait for hours without ANY option. There are many other issues. I am actively looking for a cheap alternative to this mess.

Focus Is Effective

I created a huge blocklist of gaming websites that my son can't access. and it is so far so good. I also blocked gaming apps including the app store, which is where he downloads those games. I block everything related to video games on his Mac. It helps keep him focused during school hours, especially now with covid making school online at home. All I do is set the time every night to 23 hours and 59 minutes, and my son can't acess anything gaming-related. If he finds a new website, I go to his history and I block that website if it is related to gaming. The best part is, unlike google block extensions, is that he can't find a way to unblock it or delete focus as long as the timer is running. I love it.
