The 2016 ALA Annual Conference mobile application allows you to view the schedule, presentations, exhibitors, posters, and speaker details from the conference. Users can take notes adjacent available presentation slides and draw directly on slides inside the app. Note-taking is also available in the posters and exhibitors modules.
Additionally, users can share information with attendees and colleagues with in app messaging, tweeting and emailing.

Nice intuitive interface covers a buggy app. I liked the fact that it saves slides for all the presentations you star, and is easy to navigate. However, it kept bouncing me out forcing me to go through the login and set up process multiple times. Browsing programs by day forces you to look at every program (the old app let you browse by 2 hour time frames.) I also miss the "what's happening now" feature that let you find programs easily when you suddenly had uncommitted time. The news notifications were also buggy; they didn't go away after reading the news. It's got the foundation but needs work to be really useful.
Very useful to have the program schedule, exhibit hall info, shuttle schedules, maps, and other key info all in one place. The features were promising -- especially the ability to download session slides and posters and take notes in the app. BUT now that the conference is over and I'm back at my office, I went back in to the app to look for a way to download the notes I took and the slides from the sessions I attended, and everything is wiped out! No schedule or anything. Also the app repeatedly forces me to re-enter my login info and re-confirm my acceptance of the EULA, etc. This was extremely aggravating and inconvenient, as it often happened when I was in a hurry to check some detail.
Fine, but a little buggy
I've heard that this app is an improvement over last year's. Still, it has some bugs:
- Would randomly log me out; I'd then have to go in search of my badge ID.
- A couple of times, I'd be tapping through the app and the screen would suddenly go white -- required me to force-quit the app.
- Search was hit and miss when searching for known session names.
- The feature that was supposed to add your schedule to your phone calendar was confusing and never worked as expected.
-My schedule would never go straight to the current day/time to show me what my next session was -- I had to do a lot of scrolling by Day 4 of the conference.
I also found the options for saving speaker slides to my phone to be a bit limited -- was hoping for a Save to Dropbox or Google Drive option.
Overall, it did the job in a basic way, so it gets 3 stars, but there is definitely room for improvement!
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
