My situation is unique. I created a skills account one year ago and they closed it because they thought I was filing disputes. Which I didn’t, my bank automatically did it for me. I reversed it and never played again. However, they kept sending me emails (promo emails) so I decided to make a new email and join again because I forgot my old login info.
I made a new account and played for a while. Once I decided to withdraw they suspended my account and said that I was violating their terms with “multiple accounts” I was shocked!!! Since I made several deposits and have spoke with customer service numerous times. Nothing was told to me that I was “violating their terms” until I decided to withdraw, they suspended me.
This is where the 5 stars come in, although it seems that I am at “suspended” and now told I am not allowed to play with Skillz (bummer). They gave me back a few of my deposits that I made to compensate the withdrawal. I was very happy with that since I did have money to withdraw. I was able to get my sons of money back, which is the right thing they did. Very sad that I am not allowed to play, I will no longer be playing because, I’m not allowed to apparently. Anyway thank you skills for at least giving me back some money. I’ve read horror stories where they don’t give you back your withdrawal. I appreciate it.
Enjoying the game
I have enjoyed playing the game as I have played over 500 games, winning more than I am losing. That being said I am still down in total money as they take $.60 of every dollar I win. If I was playing random people every day I could make money, however as I have improved my scores the system puts me up against other top players so we are both scoring in the 7-8,000 point range. For each game I play they make $1.20 and only paying out $.40 cents so that’s what is frustrating. If I could go against who ever was ready to play when I am on the app I could start seeing some money as I need to win 5 games in a row to make $2.00 and that is difficult when you go against top players all the time. If you did this, you would still make the same amount of profit, but keep people like me more interested in playing more.
Fun game but a clear scheme to make money
The gameplay is fun and competitive, however you would be crazy to pay actual money on this app that is clearly a scheme to make money. First, the rake the app takes on each game is ridiculous. For example you have to pay $0.60 to play a game in order to win $0.40. Once you win whatever number of practice games they give you $2 but if you lose 3 games in a row you can’t play a money game unless you add funds which probably isn’t the best idea. The way the algorithm matches players based on skill level is to ensure that people win roughly around 50% of games so that because of the rake, people in turn will always slightly lose money unless they get on a crazy streak. This keeps people playing and putting money in so that the app developers can continually make money. It’s a legal, but a super slimy way to make money off of people. Give them addicting gameplay, make them add their own money (because $2 does not go far lol), build an algorithm to match players equally so that everyone hovers around a wining percentage of 50%, keep taking the rake of of winnings. Slimy but hey it works. I gave it 2 stars because it is a fun game. Just don’t put money on because you are just handing it over to snaking developers.
