Description
The 2N® Helios IP Eye is a freely available application that not only adds video to any phone, but also provides video surveillance at your entrance. All you need is a door intercom with a camera and you can watch video without the need for a videophone. When someone rings the bell, a video window pops up automatically and you can immediately see who is standing at the door. You can also unlock the door or turn on the light, directly from the application window. Of course, you can also have video display without audio, and from several intercom units at the once.

out of date compared to windows version
This software is about a year behind the windows version, it appears. The functionality is *very* basic, and you can’t even set it up correctly with the current instructions found online, as the mac os x version has no support for secure video transmission. Also, on El Capitan I get a square hole in the middle of the surveillance window that I absolutely can not make go away. Not on the rtsp feed so not sure what is going on there…
Overall, 2N needs to do some work to bring this version for mac os x up to par with windows, and then maybe we can do a fair evaluation. Right now its hardly worth the download.
Worked OK, not now
Upgraded to Big Sur and this app no longer works. I can no longer view the video stream coming from our 2N Video Intercom.
missing basic functionality
This app is misleading, it implys that you have the ability to listen & speak through the app to the door intercom- THAT IS NOT THE CASE- this is for video only. 2n’s answer is to run a 2nd sip phone for audio, which makes no sense at all- PLEASE ADD AUDIO TO THIS APP!
otherwise configuration is odd, stream rate, window size etc are all configurable however the defaults are all 0’d out-
Ill be happy to re-review and 5 star it if something as simple as audio <it does go to intercoms afterall > is added
