A 3D compass for the iPhone 4+ and iPads. It uses the accelerometer, magnetometer, and gyroscope to point north no matter what orientation your device is in - even upside down!
Use it to find true north when you're in the woods. Use it to find up when you're lost in a snow cave. Or just have fun.
3D Compass Max uses OpenGL for lightning fast rendering and state of the art signal processing for fast and smooth compass operation.
Update to new iOS SDK and support new devices.

Not entirely accurate
I haven't tried any other compass apps yet. This one is very slick, floating like the "8-ball" in the Apollo spacecraft. But it is not entirely accurate (compared to a physical compass). I don't know if this is due to the app, the sensors in my iPad, or some unknown magnetic field near where I've tested. The arrow usually points in a northward direction, off by about 5 or 10 degrees. Sometimes I've seen it point in a wildly wrong direction, perhaps slowly floating around to north, if one waits long enough.
