App and bassinet not fully thought out
Overall the bassinet works but it and the app have some kinks that need to be worked out. It seems like this product was not fully thought out when it was created. Bassinet squeaked and rather than wait for a replacement I took it apart and greased up the moving parts. A few months later and now the speaker is blown. The touch screen is not intuitive and the icons don’t really describe the buttons you are pushing. The app won’t connect unless you are 5 ft away from the bassinet. Not sure why the max time limit is 4 hours? Why can’t I do 8 hours? Not all features are accessible from
The app, like vibration. The app opening screen is full of products I don’t own or use and just creates extra steps. More extra steps to get to the movement or sound settings I want to get to. Just put it all on one screen, my baby is crying and I’m trying to mess with the stupid app without opening the door. I also wish the bassinet had folding legs so it would be easily portable for traveling.
Love the bassinet, hate the app
We got the mamaroo bassinet despite what seemed to be 50/50 good and bad reviews because we were so desperate for sleep we were willing to risk it not working out for us. The bassinet was a lifesaver. Baby went from sleeping for an average of 1.5 hrs at a time and then taking another 2 hrs to go back to sleep (from about midnight to 7am...so we were basically getting no sleep at night) to him sleeping nearly 4 hrs and only waking long enough to eat the first night of using the bassinet (been using for 3 weeks now and he’s almost sleeping through the night at 7 weeks old!). It was 100% worth the money to us.
HOWEVER...The app is TRASH. It was so convenient at first to be able to adjust settings and the timer in the app while I get to stay cozy in bed, but I have only been able to use it problem-free for a few days off and on over the last three weeks. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, made sure it is updated, and even unplugged the bassinet and then reinstall the app and it still crashes! Same for my husband...so it’s not just me! It’s annoying that being able to control it through an app is so strongly advertised as one of the best features and yet it rarely works...
Love it! (Not sure why rating is so low..)
They must have updated the app recently with a fix to Bluetooth connectivity issues. I just downloaded it (2/2/18) and it found my mamaRoo immediately, and it told me to hold down the music button (🎵) for 5 seconds. I did, and it connected immediately (the mamaRoo even made a chime noise to indicate success). It is also extremely responsive when connected!
I was sad when I realized it didn’t play music via Bluetooth, but when I looked at the packaging and advertising, I realized it gives no indication anywhere that that is a feature. I had read into it. Plus it has the auxiliary cable for that purpose, which should suffice for most people. (Use an old iPod or MP3 player...you know you have one in your junk drawer!)
A nice added touch to the app was the ability to register my mamaRoo during the in-app setup process, so I didn’t have to go on their website or mail in the form. Well done 4moms! 5 stars! I can’t wait to put our baby girl in her mamaRoo!!
