Join the 529 Garage and protect your bike.

In less than 5 minutes, this app will help you capture the critical information about your bike and establish ownership, helping you maximize your claim with insurance and recovery efforts with police in the event of loss.

If your bike is stolen, simply press the Alert button in the app. Answer a few quick questions and we’ll let everyone in the nearby 529 community know along with the details to help others spot your bike. If they see it, they can snap a quick photo and let you know. It’s like a neighborhood watch network for your bike. We’ll get your social networks on board too. The 529 Garage also automatically creates posters that you can place around town, all from your iOS device and AirPrint enabled printer.

Registered My Bikes For Campus Safety

If you've been unlucky enough to ever have a bike stolen (I've found myself in this position a couple of times, unfortunately) you know that the first thing you do is look for avenues of recourse. You scramble to get information dispersed and returned as fast as possible, because the longer your bike is gone, the less chance you'll ever see it again. This app could be your beacon of light in that moment, and I'd highly recommend registering your whips and applying the stickers.
Having said that...lock your bike up. Use a U-lock. Through the rear wheel and the rear triangle. Maybe consider a small cable lock for the front wheel, or locking skewers. If you have a nice seat, figure that out, too. Don't leave your bike locked overnight in low-traffic areas. Honestly, once your bike is stolen, you'll probably never see it again, app or not. So. Just lock your bike up.
High five!

My stolen bike was recovered because of Project 529!

My locked bike was stolen and I had very low hopes for its recovery. I registered it with Project 529 anyway, just in case, thinking that at the very least it would be recorded as a statistic. Within ONE DAY, I was contacted by the Portland police that they had found my bike! I had filed a police report too, but the report hadn’t even gone through their system yet by the time they recovered the bike. The officer said he used the Project 529 alert. Luckily I had my bike’s serial number (remember to write that down!) and I had taken a picture with the bike, and I had added those to the alert. Thank you for this amazing service!

Great app to be proactive

I recently purchased an electric bike and am aware they’re very valuable to thieves. This app gives me piece of mind that all of my info about this bike is stored somewhere so in the event it is stolen I have everything I need for a police report and can also report it stolen in the app and get some eyes on it.
