84000 is a global nonprofit initiative to translate all 231,000 pages of the Buddha’s words from the Tibetan Buddhist Canon and making them available in English, for free, for the first time ever.

As a grants-based translation project and online publication house, we leverage and integrate new technologies to make our digital library of the Buddha’s wisdom as accessible and beneficial as possible to readers, practitioners, and scholars around the world.

What an excellent resource

I just downloaded it, and as far as I can tell they’ve done a great job cause there’s no bug- a worry I had because they’re not a huge organization. It’s just an excellent and expanding library of Buddhist texts, many are quite difficult to find in English if at all with also bread and butter sutra. I heard about it from the Wisdom Podcast, which is also excellent teachings and conversations from experienced masters.

Astonishing gift and resource

How wonderful to start this day with the words of the Buddha at ones fingertips. This app is simply amazing. It probably shouldn’t make a difference to have the texts accessible via an app— but considering these devices are in our hands a huge amount of the day—it does. So grateful this was developed. What a gift to all.
