Distraction Free Journal App
It's best to journal (and to write in general) without any distractions, and this app has none.
* You don't have to organize or time stamp entries yourself.
* The interface is as simple as it gets.
* There is no builtin cloud storage, meaning no badgering you to pay for it.
* There are no ads.
* There is no subscription.
* Your entries are not harvested.
* You can use biometrics to limit access to the app so that you don't even have to worry about a password day-to-day.
* There are no prompts.
There are little stats that are on their own screen so that you don't have to look at them if you don't want to. The app will reauthenticate if you open another app during use, similar to a password manager, which is a nice touch. There is an export feature so that you may backup your entries however you choose; the export format is unencrypted, so if you wish to encrypt your backup, you should do it yourself. The developer appears to be independent. It is a very good app.
Great app!
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’m so glad I took the time to scroll past all of the fancy apps in the search results. I’ve been wanting something simple and direct for eons. There are zero distractions in this app. Perfect for jotting down little bits during the day or going all-in with a long entry before bed.
I like that you can add a mood to your entry without it crowding up the main screen like other apps. And if you don’t want to add moods, the button to do so is not at all in your face. Similarly, the plain colors of the app leave your focus on what you’re doing.
The stats tab is also nicely done with how straightforward and seamless it is.
To potential users reading reviews: Keep in mind that it does not have automatic backup as many of us are accustomed to. You’ll need to export and import the data from within the app. I do “save to files” to export since it automatically opens your Apple files when you import.
What I need
I really like this journal. I like that I can pick an emoji to represent my mood. The only thing I’d like is to be able to add thoughts to my journal multiple times a day and have them time stamped. Right now I just put a couple spaces between my thoughts to separate them. Overall a great journal. It is simple with no distractions or prompts.
