If you make any purchase under $25 make sure you get cash back and you total at least $25 dollars. If you do not, they will double charge your account! All of my purchases that are $25 or less will be charged at point of purchase and the following day as a pending charge. I have made one purchase and screenshotted my account at point of purchase with one total. And then I wake up the next day and there is a new one. Exactly double what the amount would be of the original purchase. Yesterday, for example, I buy seven dollars worth of things at the grocery store. Seven dollars is immediately removed from the account. And then the following day ANOTHER seven dollars is removed because the charge is still pending. Make sure you get cash back on all small purchases if you can afford it.

So I have had academy bank for about a year now and in this year so far I have had many issues that could have been preventable. So when I first started with this bank one of the inconveniences was the fact that they had closed at five in my area, now this usually was never a problem until I ran into issues were I had said that my cash app had been hacked but that my card wasn’t charged and I had removed it, anyway they decided without asking me whether or not I wanted my card to be deactivated they did so. Next up due to the previous issue I had stated about before the problem with this was that I never had time to get a new card and was without one for about half a month before I had the time to stop by, now my problem was the fact that they had shut off my card without asking so. Next the situation I had was that I had made purchases and payments to online subscriptions that they deemed fraudulent, now again my issue was not the fact they let me know about some suspicious charges my problem was the fact that they again deactivated my card, now I must wait until I either get time to go grab a new one or wait the 10-14 day shipping for a new one, finally this situation could had been avoided had they not shut my card off without my saying so even tho those charges were from me.

How does a second chance bank make the best bank app on the planet? I've looked into it and Academy bank has $3 billion in assets, and $2 billion in accounts. Ummm... who are these bankers? DFC! I have several accounts with other banks and Academy far out provides, out serves, out banks any other. With my select checking I can get my funds from 24,000 ATMs with no fees. Tell me that ain't untouchable???? My account is free if I run debt transactions, it's crazy. And my highest paying CD, which I have several throughout the banking industry... is Academy Bank!!!! If you don't have atleast one account through them your missing out on personal service. AND... it's the only bank with a Walmart inside!!!

I know you see a lot of positive reviews on here and I’m pretty sure most of it’s from employees trying to help get new accounts. But I’m an actual customer that has had $29 taken from him for different times and they’re only answer is you have to have a little bit of luck or be the one to ask the questions to clear understanding how this bank works. The bank will blame the call center and the call center will blame the bank branch and you would just run in circles hoping for an answer. You could have 100% proof and you could do everything right as they tell you and it still won’t mean nothing is they will find a way to blame it on you and not them. I don’t mind paying for my mistakes but it’s absurd that this call center and app has people believing that they could actually give quality customer service. Never have I had a bank go out of their way to make sure you don’t understand what you’re doing so bad like Academy Bank. I have a bad issues with other banks but never like this. You’re better off managing your own money from your own pocket. And unless the Walmart is open 24 hours good luck trying to get to an ATM without getting charged up the rear end! Choose to take my advice or not but just know you’ve been warned know when you can be mad at is yourself for not listening to me. Good luck on your ventures in life. This app and bank is garbage!!!!!!
