ACCP Flip Cards: Pharmacotherapy is a fun, fast, and simple way for pharmacy professionals to prepare for the Pharmacotherapy Specialty Certification Examination administered by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.

This new study tool features over 300 patient-centered, disease-specific vignettes and clinical scenarios. Each item includes an explained answer with rationale and supporting references for further study.

Items can be reviewed by examination domain or system and patient-care problems. Items can also be randomly shuffled for a more challenging review. Scoring statistics provide instant feedback that allows for a more focused review of problem areas. Answers include complete explanations with 2-5 supporting references; each reference has a hyperlink to PubMed or other compiler.

ACCP Flip Cards: Pharmacotherapy combines the time-tested method of review by flashcard with your mobile device, creating an ideal resource for those who want a self-paced review and refresher of disease states and therapeutics.

Key Features:
• In-app Statistics—Track your progress and discover those areas where you need additional study. Clear your statistics at any time to retest yourself.

• Shuffle—Mix up your flip cards as many times as you like to create a randomized stream of questions.

• Favorites—Highlight those questions that need additional review, or those questions that you find the most challenging or interesting.

• Notes—Jot down reminders, mnemonic devices, or anything that helps you prepare for the exam.

• Common Lab Values—Reference a handy table of reference values for common laboratory tests.

Needs better functionality

The questions seem fine. Haven’t taken the exam so I can’t say how close they are to the real thing. However, the app is horribly designed. You are unable to go back and see a question after you have already answered it, unless you clear the statistics or “favorite” the question. If you favorite the question, it will show you what answer you originally picked even if it’s the wrong answer. There should be two modes: practice mode where you can flip through the questions and answer them or not, and test mode where it actually keeps track of your stats.

Good but Not updated frequently enough.

The cards have not been updated in 2 years. Guidelines have changed and some of the questions do not reflect those updates. For example c.diff treatment has been updated to remove metronidazole as primary form of treatment for cdiff and recurrent cdiff.

You can’t go back and review the question after the submitting your answer. That functionality would be a big help when reviewing your answer.

The cards have helped me review and test my knowledge when I don’t have time to sit down and study.

Tough, but thorough

Much harder questions than the Preparatory Book. App works well on iOS 10. I like that it links out to the literature. Would recommend.
