Create Your Own Tones with Up to Four Layers
Most of the preset sounds in the Aerophone AE-10 consist of up to four different tones that are layered together. Now, the Aerophone Editor unlocks the ability to create your own multi-layered tones. You can blend synth leads with acoustic sax sounds, or build many unique combinations for different songs and styles. And by manipulating detailed tone parameters such as key range, panning, and pitch, you can set up the Aerophone AE-10 to realize further expressive possibilities.
Fine-Tune the Aerophone for Your Personal Style and Playing Touch
Using advanced editing features only available in the app, you’re able to personalize your Aerophone AE-10 to a deep level. Detailed breath, bite, and thumb control assignments allow you to dial in the perfect response for your unique musical expressions. In addition, onboard effects such as reverb, chorus, and MFX can be adjusted to help your performances shine. It’s also possible to customize external MIDI control information, making the Aerophone AE-10 even more powerful when triggering external sound modules and software-based instruments.
Build Custom Tone Lists for Different Playing Situations
The Library function in the Aerophone Editor makes it easy to organize both custom and preset sounds into tone lists. This allows you to quickly outfit the Aerophone AE-10 for specific gigs, playing styles, and practice regimens. It’s possible to save nearly unlimited tone lists, giving you the power to reconfigure your instrument for virtually any situation. In addition to local storage on your iPhone or iPad, tone list files can be uploaded to iCloud for backup, remote access, and sharing with other Aerophone players.
* The Aerophone AE-10 communicates with an iOS device via USB. To connect a USB cable to your device, an Apple USB camera adapter is required. Use a cable with a USB Type B connector on one end (for the Aerophone AE-10) and a connector appropriate for the USB camera adapter on the other.

Works when it wants to
Sometimes recognizes my Aerophone, sometimes it doesn’t. The app and the AE-10 are both up to date as well. Very frustrating.
Essential app for Aerophone owners
After I purchased my Aerophone in December 2016, the very top of my wish list was for Roland to release a companion app. This desire was due to the limitations of the tiny display on the back of the Aerophone, which made programming it confusing, painstaking, and as it's turned out, quite incomplete. This new editor/librarian app does an excellent job of allowing quick and easy access to nicely organized voice parameters. However, this app is not exactly a duplication of what's on the Aerophone screen. Besides a completely different layout, a huge range of very welcome new parameters have now been made accessible. These would include numerous MIDI settings, of which I consider to be essential, and also the addition of a comprehensive effects section! This app also allows you to layer up to 4 patches, with a fairly comprehensive number of synth parameters available for each layer. Librarian functions include cut and paste style bank organization as well as storage and retrieval to local files or the cloud. This being version 1.1 of this app, there's still room for a bit of improvement. Currently, this app does not include the system-wide settings placed seemingly randomly within the Aerophone's display. So adding a section for system settings, with separate file saving would be nice, as would a section for fingering settings. This app is definitely a major aid to me taking my Aerophone to the next creative level!
Fails to download from the AE10 to the iPad
I have the Aerophone with ver 2.2 software installed and I installed the Aerophone Editor on both my iPad Pro and my iPhone 6S. I have the Apple Camera Kit for lightning. In both cases the Aerophone download of sounds to the app does not work, so sounds cannot be edited by the software. Very disappointed in the product and Roland’s lack of support for it. While they say they have phone and email support, when you click on it on the Roland site, neither a phone number nor an email address appear.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
