It’s a mobile game.

Saw someone say in a review that half the roster is from ROH, injured, or released. Out of 32 available characters, all of them are still with AEW still as of writing this. Some of them have appeared on ROH but were working for AEW before ROH was purchased by AEW. I don’t know what programs that person is watching but it’s clear they don’t know the products they’re making claims about. At any rate, I’m not sure how injuries make someone less good for the game. Actual fans of the show still like those wrestlers.

As for the actual game itself, and general first impressions:

Gameplay is good and responsive, if not repetitive, but that’s pretty standard for mobile games.

It’s got all the same types of micro-transactions other games have. It’s clear the more popular wrestlers are being saved for bait in that.

Graphics are cute and the animations are serviceable. The sound is kinda mid though.

There isn’t anything inherently awful about the game because it does deliver what it presents itself as, but it doesn’t seem stellar either. That is unfortunately the case for pretty much all the AEW mobile games.

Thank you so much for your review and feedback. Our team is avid fans of AEW, and with our starting roster, our goal was to bring characters to the table who are familiar, alongside wrestlers who deserve some time in the spotlight. That said, your feedback is great and we have some exciting wrestlers about to make their ring walks. This week we have a 1st Edition version of Timeless Toni Storm hitting the shop, and you can expect at least 2 new wrestlers every month to make their way to the game.

Do join our Discord, and let us know who you'd like to see next!

Again, Not a Game.

It’s just an engine for revenue generation. Instead of using icons on the screen for strike, grapple, punch, Irish whip, etc the characters automatically throw each other into the ropes until one icon on your screen is “charged”. Then when you press it, they stop whatever they were doing and it cuts to your character doing the move. It’s atrocious. Then as matches are completed to unlock more characters that you can’t control. And of course you can spend money and unlock them faster. There is very minimal interaction, the characters aren’t “playable” in any sense of the word and I’m deleting this sham of a game immediately It’s probably the laziest effort I’ve seen from AEW to date. They just don’t care. They think the small group of dedicated fans will throw money at ANYTHING but that is less and less the case with each passing day. I hope they can get it together eventually.

Seems Impossible to Advance

Pros: Creative, the graphics, variety of talent especially mid card.

Cons: Interface is cumbersome and very busy. Too much going on. (Rise To The Top has enough going on without being chaotic.)

Big Con: It doesn’t seem you can advance in the game. For example, there is no way to boost wrestlers unless you receive fragments for them or they are featured in the PVP.

My best wrestler is Alex Reynolds only because he was featured in the PVP and there were fragments rewarded to move his rank up.

There is a women’s campaign. I get destroyed in the first match by Penelope Ford. There isn’t anything to boost my female wrestlers so they stand a chance. The shop doesn’t offer much in a way of boosting individual wrestlers.

I took the bait and tried buying the value pack Gems. I don’t see the ROI on my wrestlers.

I feel I will just check in once a day when the freebies appear.

Thank you for your feedback, and review! We're proud of the graphics, our starting roster, and the new characters we have lined up and ready to enter the ring!

The team is working to clarify how information is displayed to players to help take on the next challenger. With regards to Penelope Ford, and the Queens of the Ring campaign, this has been passed onto the team as the difficulty is very hard right now as you say.
