[DESCRIPTION]
AG ROP (AG Remote Operation Panel) App enables wireless remote control of the Camera Recorder. The control screen of the AG ROP displays large numerals and provides upper and lower touch keys for easy understanding and use. In addition to the multitude of control functions, such as camera setting, picture quality adjustment, REC start/stop and menu setting, AG ROP enables the control of the Camera Recorder’s internal lens for remote operation of the i.ZOOM, zoom and focus. This provides extra versatility when, for example, the Camera Recorder is set up on a crane. It also displays a thumbnail view and a preview view, so clips(*1) recorded can be displayed as thumbnails and previewed(*2) on an iPad.
*1 The thumbnail of only the sub-recording (8 Mbps) of dual codec recording is supported for AG-DVX200.
*2 Only the sub-recording (8 Mbps) of dual codec recording is supported for AG-DVX200 / AG-UX180 / AG-UX170 / HC-X1.

Save your money
The app doesn’t have live view (like the app for the GH4 and the GH5) so it is pretty much useless. Sure, you can start and stop the camera, and can change the camera settings, but without live view you cannot see what effect these changes have on the image. So the potential to do more harm than good outweighs any actual benefit. I wish I could return the USB dongle (another bit of ridiculousness from Panasonic since the GH4 and GH5 have wifi built in and cost less).
No Live View
No live view is a deal breaker for me. Why go through all the trouble to make an app that is almost good? Bought the expensive wifi dongle and set it all up just to find out my varizoom is just as useful!! Maybe varizoom will add a live view to their controllers before Pana adds one to their would be app 😡
Works when it wants to
This is an unreliable application. The camera is connected to a network, was able to use the app one time, then it refreshed and can't connect. Nothing has changed as far as settings. There is literally no support for this camera.
