It reads the content of images and documents, transcribes supported audio, suggests useful names, and sorts files into the right folders — before anything changes on disk. Use it to clean up Downloads, screenshots, photos, recordings, PDFs, receipts, invoices, documents, research files, project folders, and mixed archives. LOCAL AUDIO TRANSCRIPTION Install the optional on-device audio model to transcribe speech in MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, and AAC files directly on your Mac. RenameClick uses the transcript to suggest clear filenames based on what is said in each recording. Local audio transcription requires macOS 14 or later. PRIVATE, LOCAL-FIRST FILE ORGANIZATION By default, RenameClick uses a built-in local AI model for images and documents. In Local AI mode, analysis happens on your Mac, and your files are not uploaded to RenameClick servers. Choose and download only the on-device capabilities you need: file understanding, audio transcription, or both. You can also connect your own local or self-hosted LM Studio or Ollama server. RENAME FILES BY CONTENT Rename images, documents, text files, and audio recordings using what is actually inside each file — not just the old filename. Review every suggested rename and move before applying it. AUTOMATE REPEATED CLEANUP Use Auto Flow to watch incoming folders and organize new files automatically. Create repeatable rules for Downloads, screenshots, camera imports, scans, receipts, invoices, project folders, and shared work folders. SEARCH BY MEANING AI Search helps you find files by meaning, not just exact filename keywords. Search for what a file is about, even when its original name is unclear or generic. METADATA AND EXIF FOLDERS Build folders using dates, EXIF fields, camera details, location, fixed text, and other metadata. I’m using this to dynamically rename receipts to a consistent format, and so far it’s pretty solid. I’m currently using Apple AI, but I like that I can use LM Studio and other LLM models, keeping everything locally on my machine for privacy.I like that I can create and save custom instructions for different purposes, i.e., receipts, invoices, scripts, etc. I did use ChatGPT to help improve my prompts, but once I plugged those into the app, the renaming improved.You can have multiple watch folders for auto-renaming. I see strong possibilities combining this with Hazel.While not uber-fast, it’s fast enough and faster than another AI renamer I tried. I suspect that has more to do with the actual AI model.While it won’t replace “A Better Finder Renamer” as my main tool, whose purpose is different, I think this is a very useful additional tool. I bought the lifetime license, which I appreciate over subscriptions.So far this is promising and what AI should be about. I’ll update the review as I use it more.
