- WHAT IS AI TALES?
AI Tales is a game that lets you disconnect from a long stressful day, get in the right mood for the rest and immerse into the world of stories, books, art, music and paintings.
- OKAY, CAN I HAVE MORE DETAILS?
In a nutshell. You are the protagonist of one of the many puzzle stories. Each has an initial setting with a brief description and a big goal. From there you have complete freedom of action. Rotate the story cube, direct it in an interesting path and immerse yourself in the created world. In open endless mode make any decision you want and tell the story. The possibilities are endless. Tales are unique and generated on the fly by artificial intelligence.
- HOW DOES AI WORK?
The game is created and controlled by a set of neural networks which generate sequels to stories, combine texts with thousands of paintings by famous artists or generated by neural networks and visualize them, immersing you in the world of art. AI scores your actions and gives you points based on how close you get to the goal.
- AND WHAT WILL GIVE ME?
You relax after a hard day, immersed in your own story, disconnected for a while from the real world and feel complete freedom of action in the colorful worlds you can imagine.
- SO, IS IT SOMETHING LIKE TEXT-BASED RPG?
In a way, yes. Unlike a large number of text quests, in the AI Tales your possibilities are enormous, because stories are generated on the fly by neural networks. You can also relax and play with just a swipe of one hand rotating the story cube. In addition, the plots are visualized with generated images, which create a quite unique and deep atmosphere.

A work in progress
I’ve paid to support this project because I believe it can become an incredible game, when it works it’s brilliant. Sometimes even downright thought provoking. Unfortunately this is a rare occurrence. Several times the AI has mid story talked about game controls for playing computer games and hits a loop. It really seems to struggle with holding onto details in the story. Which is strange when it keeps a record of the story thus far. You can also directly influence what happens. Like I can do anything just by typing “I succeeded in saving the king” and it’s basically just 9 more frames of nonsensical unrelated interactions until the story just sort of ends. Even just playing with only swipes does this. I’m looking forward to the development of this project.

Has Potential, Nonsensical So Far
This is an interesting idea in concept, but in reality it doesn’t work all that well. The story segments tend to not make any sense, and the choices make even less sense… I started the pirate story and it began with the enemy pirates having a large crew— that was essentially the whole story segment— and my two options were “fight the pirates” or “you have a small crew”. Huh? From there it just got even more nonsensical with the such story segments as “the pirate captain pokes you with a bullet”, “you grab the gun, it is easy to pull apart” and so on. The AI-generated backgrounds also don’t match up very well… In the pirate story I was often seeing castles or, more bizarrely, a group of what looked to be modern American army soldiers.
The app has potential, but so far it just isn’t there.
