Airmail Zero is a brand new app for the next generation of Gmail, and the successor to Apple Developer Award-winning Airmail. It’s perfect for quickly triaging your inbox and uses Gmail’s blazing fast new platform to instantly send and receive messages.
Airmail Zero features:
- Fast tools for managing your email
- Rich keyboard shortcuts for even more efficiency
- A brand new, rock-solid codebase written entirely in Swift
- Zero wait time for launch
- Much more reliable performance on Virtual Private Networks (VPN) since it does not use IMAP or POP connections
- A beautiful interface built on a custom new animation engine
- Instant sync thanks to secure, all-HTTPS communications
Note that Airmail Zero is a native Gmail app for triaging recent email, but not currently an archival utility for searching your entire history.
As a successor to our Apple Developer Award-winnning Airmail email client, Airmail Zero is built with an entirely new Swift codebase. It launches instantly and uses virtually zero storage, memory, and CPU. For the security conscious, Airmail Zero works with VPNs much more reliably than traditional email apps.

Not ready for primetime
On principle, awesome UI, fast and light.
Sometimes you'll delete a Draft but the convo keeps the Draft mark on it.
Hangs frequently when trying to add attachments using the paper clip button.
No attachment indicator, which makes hunting through long convos tedious.
Conversation view is collapsed by default, which looks great, but once you locate the email you want, you need to double click to expand that email and then click the (...) to expand again to see its full contents including attachments, then scroll allll the way down to locate the attachments. Attachments should be at the top of an email for easy access, and emails with attachments should have an indicator.
Missing (especially from the Airmail team):
basic Smart Inbox functionality (separating personal from newsletters etc). The Gmail folders are there (personal/updates/social/promotions) but those folders show all items for that category, even archived ones, so just getting through what's new is a bit of a pain.
Snooze: should be here... even in a fast and light client.
Will not be purchasing yet, but will nevertheless keep it installed and look forward to updates.
It's looks pretty, but it's not ready for prime time. I don't have the time to get into all the buggy behavior that I found in trying to use Airmail Zero to respond to a single e-mail.
Even though I paid the annual subscription, I'm going back to the previous version of Airmail. I'll return in a few months and try to use this one again. I've been an Airmail user since the beginning, so I trust the developers to get it fixed.
They've got a lot of work to do.
Ok, pricey annual fee when you use both iOS & MacOS
In order to actually test this app out, you need to have full use for more than 3 days. One account for 3 days is not realisitc and if you can't use the multiple account option which is the point of this app its not worth testing it out further.
Plus why are you charging $9.99/year for both the iOS and MacOS versions? Why isn't there a single price discounted if you go with both?
