Great idea...but needs work
To start with, it is not found by a simple search in the App Store. I was able to find it by searching 511 and scrolling through until it finally came up. Maybe rename it by getting rid of the dash behind ‘Alaska’. I was excited to see it available but am disappointed at how glitchy it seems to be. No road cams are available to see, even though the icon is there and in the App Store the screenshot shows the ER camera. When I click on a location I get the information about it at the top of the screen, but I can’t move to a different location until I close out of the app entirely and go back in. That needs to be fixed! And the pins - what is the purple one for? There’s no legend to tell the user anything. I’m guessing the green pins mean traffic cams, but again, it’s a guess since the cams don’t pop up on the app.
I’ve looked at other states 511 apps and they are much better. Please work on this and improve it. Many motorists in the state rely on 511 for information before and during long road trips. For now, I’ll call 511 or use it via a browser. Please developers...fix these issues!
Doesn’t use full display width.
Iphone 8+, running 11.2.6. The map view leaves a 3/4” white band along the right edge.
Right Idea but needs a little more
Just downloaded the Alaska 511 app after driving the Parks Highway from the Banks to Anchorage tonight during the storms. The whole purpose of this app is to be a medium to put out information on driving routes. Whether ice, snow, rain, or avalanche, 511 reports it. It would get 5 stars if you develop it further for personalization for daily drivers and/or add text notifications to let people know (separate service that has to be set up on website.) I would like to see it cleaned up and maybe McKinley in the background. (Just a thought, background pictures for the section of the road you are looking at).
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
