Amazon Halo measures your activity, sleep, body composition, movement health, and tone of voice.

Halo is a new approach to improving your health—a membership that provides you with innovative tools, personalized data and insights, and an ever-growing library of premium content designed to help you build healthier habits for life.

This app requires a Halo device.

Key features:
• Explore an ever-growing library of premium and on-demand workouts, daily meditations, as well as nutrition and sleep support.

• Simple, measurable programs help you see the impact that small changes can make on how feel–like whether meditating improves your focus, or if a pet-free bedroom improves your sleep quality.

• Informed by guidelines from the American Heart Association, Halo measures the intensity of your activity in addition to tracking steps and sedentary time. This means that working harder—like taking two stairs at a time, or going for a jog—helps you reach your weekly goals faster.

• Analyze your sleep patterns, like how long it takes you to fall asleep, how much you wake up at night, and how long you spend in each sleep stage.

• Get a tailored weekly menu that can be synced with your Halo app grocery list, your Alexa shopping list, or the Whole Foods app to make meal prep even easier.
• Add recipe ingredients or standalone items to your grocery list anytime.
• Browse and get inspiration with hundreds of nutritious recipes.

• Halo uses your smartphone’s camera to accurately measure your mobility, stability, and posture, and then provides a custom set of corrective exercises to help you improve over time.

• Halo's Body feature is nearly twice as accurate as leading at-home smart scales.
• Body uses your smartphone’s camera to determine your body fat percentage, which is a better indicator of health than weight or BMI alone.
• A personalized 3D model helps you track changes.

• Get phone call and text notifications, start live workouts, and get move reminders right from your wrist with Halo View fitness tracker (sold separately).

• Halo analyzes the positivity and energy of your voice to help you learn how you may sound to others.

Welcoming and minimalistic

This is just my second day using the app and i can confidently say i have been able to navigate easily and have seen all features available with no hassle. The experience is comparable to my experience with garmin, fitbit and apple. As this is a review of the app and the halo band, i do have few suggestions to share. Ability to define microphone power saving features for off peak, idle or sleep timing could potentially save battery life. Integration of the app and the analytics with third party apps like apple health, garmin, strava, etc could also be beneficial as it is very likely people cannot be exclusive to just one health monitor. Data hungry athletes/enthusiasts will usually cycle with 2-3 ecosystems and cross readable data can help either platforms to match or reference usable data for gaps, accuracy and quality. I would use my garmin for my cycling training but would want halo to recognize such efforts or training. Vice versa, i would want my garmin or strava to recognize my halo data for activities requiring HR or temperature readings. User defined sleep times should also help with accuracy. User defined activities list could also be used as reference for the halo OS or AI to prompt user with reminders or suggestions of their intended weekly rides/runs/weight training.

I love it

I got this to help motivate me to be more active and for the info it tracks a provides on sleep as well. Seeing how lazy I really am is an eye opener and does make me want to do more. I did the body scan once so far, that was depressing but also a motivator, it’s different than looking in the mirror. You see what you look like to others and it tells you your body fat ratio. I really like the sleep tracking aspect. I see how long I slept, my sleep cycle durations, and body temp averages. There are also helpful activities you can accept and work on throughout your week. There are all kinds like yoga, workouts, average sleep times, meditations, etc. They are either tracked automatically like the average sleep time or you use your phone to complete them like the workouts or meditations. Like I said I love this thing, the data I get it helpful. I still need to put more effort into fitness but I’ll get there. I bought the sport strap too, I’ve used it since day one and like it. No issues so far, haven't tried the speech analysis yet, not sure I want to know how I sound with my mood swings. I would recommend to others and buy again.

Some kinks need to be worked out

I have several issues with this band. The main one being that the sleep portion is entirely inaccurate. The app keeps telling me I’m in either a deep or light sleep when I’m on the couch watching tv then it says I wale up (when I’m cleaning or getting ready for bed) and shows me that I didn't sleep well because I had numerous “awake” times. This obviously makes me question whether the sleep graph of deep, light, and rem sleep is entirely false. It appears as if it shows you all these sleep cycles but they’re entirely random and not actually your sleep- the only way it reads your sleep if when you go to bed and how long you sleep, everything in between is just a generic graph.
The other thing is the voice recognition. I don’t personally see the point of this at all. Yes when my child fell and hit his head my tone did in fact sound worried and concerned.. I don’t see what this gives me. I turned the feature off because I don’t personally see the benefit and it feels intrusive and I worry about why this feature exists at all. It didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know.
On the positive side it’s helping me get in shape- of course having any kind of tracker helps motivate you to move. I’m also liking the body fat scan- it’a good to see yourself from the side and monitor progress.
