Ambre: Recipe Organizer 4+

So happy I found this app!

This is THE most user friendly recipe app I have seen to date. So many ways to make the way you collect and categorize your recipes so simply sculpted. URL downloads, meal planning, and even entering your own scratch recipes is wonderful.
Scaling recipes is a great addition to an app, because the number of people we love to cook our favorites for does change occasionally, and this truly makes cooking for two so much easier.

The only things keeping me from giving this 5-stars are the following:

*The ability to print recipes.
People frequently ask for recipes and I like to print them out.
*For the app to work on my iPad.
I updated my iPad and it is apparently still not supported? Hmmmm

*A one-time payment option rather than having to pay monthly (this may actually cause me to, albeit very sadly, give up the app as I have a difficult time paying monthly for more than my utilities.

I will keep checking back on this app for updates, because I am just so pleased with it, and I hope I can edit this at some point and make the rating a full 5 stars.

We’ll add printing recipes on our list of requests. While we look into that I hope you consider having the recipe printed from the web. To do that click the Share button on a recipe and then pretend you’re going to have it sent via Messages. Without actually sending the message, copy the URL that gets created and then have it pasted in your web browser. Below the recipe image, among the social media buttons, you’ll find a print button.



Regarding using Kookin on your iPad, make sure you have it updated to iPadOS 16 as we unfortunately can support only the latest OS. Please let me know if this issue continues to persist. 



I understand your economical situation, especially giving the global situation currently. We hope we have enough features in the free version for you to consider to continue using it. With each update we try our best to keep all users in the Kookin Community happy :)

…but Siri is not working. And instructions widget doesn’t quite make sense if you have to go back into app to switch to next step. And a couple other glitches but overall very good! Also adding a grocery shopping list would make it top tier .

Hi! Thank you for your rating and your feedback. You can update both the Live Activity Widget and the Home Screen Widget using Siri by activating “Kookin It” in the recipe you want to make. To see the next instruction say “Hey Siri, Kookin next instruction”. If this doesn’t work for you, please send me an e-mail on sofia@ambi.se and we’ll get to the bottom of this. We’ll add grocery shopping to our list of requests :)

I just downloaded this but will be canceling before my 3 day trial ends.
- There are no categories, only tags. Every cookbook ever has categories. Example: main dish, side, dessert, etc
- Importing from Pinterest is sloppy. It pulled in some of the ingredients but not all. The ones it did pull in, they didn’t have quantities/amounts. It also added ingredients that weren’t even in the recipe.
- Both recipes I added, one from Pinterest and one picture of a recipe card; neither filled in the servings or total cook time. Does not have separate prep/ total time.
- There is a description box to put tags in but no notes. Need a place to put your own adjustments or substitutions separate from the directions.

We wanted to provide a fully flexible organizing system, which is why you can create your own tags based on your personal needs. They serve a similar—if not identical—function to predefined categories.

Thank you for bringing to our attention that recipes aren’t being properly imported from Pinterest. We’ll definitely make sure to improve those. Could you please share the link(s) that didn’t import properly so we can figure it out? Please send us an email at hello@ambre.app

We’ll look over how to improve the import to include servings better, and if we can add support for showing more specific times like you mention.

To keep the recipes as clean as possible from clutter we let the description section allow for any free text, and can be expanded and tucked away as needed. However, we’ll make a note of your request of having a separate section for notes, but we can’t make any promises.
