MahJong Practice 2018 is pattern practice for real American MahJong with Charleston. Play fun, quick games offline, anywhere, anytime. No internet connection needed.
The Tile Counting feature assists in strategy decisions. Test your game strategy with the Replay option. This is the best way to learn new cards and new combinations.
A game ends when you mahjong or the wall of tiles runs out. Opponents build valid patterns and exchange jokers but do not declare mahjong.
The Info button in the app provides details about the mechanics of moving tiles. For beginners, reference Standard American MahJong rules and videos online. You should know basic rules before using this app because rules are not enforced.

Helps me learn!
Love, love, love!!! Great replay option to know if I chose the best set to work on...wish discard was just a tap rather than a swish...wish the points option (25, 30, 40, etc) was shown so I could practice easier ones as I’m learning. Sometimes I’m away from my card and I choose too difficult a set for my skills. Also would love a way to know the “best” strategy to use rather than my guessing. I could override the “best”strategy, but I might be choosing unwisely but just don’t know. Thanks for good work....also, card gives a bit more description of a set which is very helpful and I’d like to see within the app as an option.
Amazing Mahjong Practice Program
I am obsessed with this practice game. It works perfectly and is so easy to use. Available hands appear quickly and change with each move. Seems to have a infinite number of practice games. Keeps count of which hands have been won. Graphics are clear. Game is perfect. Only improvement might be to display statistics for games played and won.
Update-Thanks for the clarification on new hands. I continue to love this app. It has become my favorite. I agree with another reviewer that it would be great to see the other hands at the end of the game. I do like that the other hands don’t win. It makes it more like practice and less like a game simulation. I’d do have one request - I would like to be able to tap on my discards instead of swiping. Sometimes my swipes don’t “take”.
Help - I think you may be missing a valid hand:
FFF 1111 FFF 5555 or
FFF 5555 FFF 9999
Could you please ants. Thanks.
Everything works perfectly. Thanks.
Thanks for the stats. You’ve made a great app even better.
Developer Response ,
Tiles are shuffled randomly for a new game every time.
We added tap for discards to version 1.9.
The FFF 5555 FFF 9999 problem is fixed in version 2.1.
Why doesn’t anyone else win?
I am enjoying this app. It’s helping me become more familiar with the new 2018 card. I am wondering, however, why every game ends with either a wall game or I win. This isn’t what happens in real life. Sometimes the other players win!
Also, it would be nice to see the other hands at the end of a wall game, to see what my robot opponents were doing.
Final question. In real life I find Winds are passed quite a bit. However, they are rarely passed in this game. Is this a strategy of the app designer?
Developer Response ,
For pattern practice bots are designed not to declare mahjong. Bots keep tiles that complete their longest pattern. The other tiles are discarded randomly.
