AmpKit - Guitar amps & pedals 4+

This was one of the first guitar apps I bought many years ago. It may have been the first version. Back then it sounded awesome. It still does in standalone mode when it works. However, it’s 2025 and the developers have not kept this app up to date with current technology. It’s still IAA and doesn’t work in most DAW’s like Cubasis and GarageBand. You can insert it into a track but all you hear is a direct clean signal and yes I’ve checked all the settings like run in the background. In standalone mode I have to navigate to one of the included backing tracks and play it first before I can hear the amp. I’m using an iPhone running iOS 18, so that’s probably part of the problem. But only a part because the developers have let themselves go along with this app. Update your app and it will be back to being a top contender. Get in the game Agile Partners. Oh, and their tech support is non-existent. If you’ve got a newer phone running the latest iOS and want to record with this app, you can forget it. Go download the free version of Overloud THU. It works flawlessly all the way around, sounds great and tech support answers emails. Most amp and effects costs are 4.99. Agile Partners, please resurrect yourselves and get this app up from the ashes. Come out with a version that will blow the competition away. I know you can do it.

Not worth it to buy any gear. The preloaded stuff is good for basics and if you're a beginner. I used this for years, and when I got a new phone and tried to restore my previous purchases (mostly pedals and one amp) it didn't work. Tried to load the app on my iPad and that didn't work either. I was finally able to get everything back on my phone but the headache wasn't really worth it.

Bottom line, purchases are hard to restore. If you're in the market for an average amp with easy features and relatively simple interface this is your go to. Another important note, feedback and noise filters on this aren't very good. Sometimes they just stop working if I'm playing for too long. At first I thought maybe my guitar wasn't grounded but no it was the app.

I've had this app for a while. I paid for the whole package, all was well for a year, then they had a problem, and then they fixed it.
I use this on a regular basis. I would say for home use this is PERFECT !
I use it all the time with an iPad or iPhone. I love the variety and the sounds are really good. A lot of warmth , good echo, delay etc. I love the app but the quality of your interface (the thing between your phone and your guitar ) help make it sound even better. Buy the whole kit for about 40 bucks and you get everything. And there’s a ton of stuff. Used peavey interfaces are about 20 bucks and about 60 for an HD model. Great app. Glad they fixed it
