AnoLTEd is a native macOS frontend for LanguageTool.org's web service for checking texts for spelling and grammar errors.
Supported languages
LanguageTool currently supports more than 30 languages. The main languages supported are German, English, French, Dutch, Portuguese and Spanish, which can additionally be set to different dialects. The desired language can be changed at any time in the preferences of AnoLTEd.
Check text
To check a text, it can either be entered in the integrated editor, or a plain text file (TXT) can be opened. AnoLTEd also supports markup formatted files, e.g. Markdown with the file extension "MD".
Note: Office documents (OpenOffice, Word etc.) can NOT be read by AnoLTEd. In this case the text can be added to AnoLTEd by copy & paste to check for errors.
Errors with learning effect
AnoLTEd does not only mark errors, but lists them clearly in the left area of the app window. In addition to the function to correct the errors, there are also small explanations available, which explores the individual error in more detail and explain why the respective point appears incorrect.
Automatic error correction and personal dictionary
There are errors that happen again and again. AnoLTEd can learn these errors on demand and correct them automatically in future text checks. In addition, AnoLTEd offers the function to add words, e.g. proper names, to the personal dictionary, whereby these words no longer appear in the list of recognized errors.
Bring color into your errors
AnoLTEd offers the possibility to display the respective error types differently. For a variety of error types, you can individually set which color should be used, the underline format and whether the respective text itself should be colored. In addition, further options are available to adapt the displayed text to one's own preferences in terms of font, font size and color.
In-app purchases
AnoLTEd can be used for an unlimited time without any restrictions. The In-App purchases offered are all voluntary in order to provide some support to the developer of this app.
