Remember dialing into BBSes at 2400 baud? The slow reveal of ANSI art filling your terminal, character by character, while the modem crackled in the background?
ANSI Saver turns your Apple TV into a gallery for that art. Thousands of ANSI and ASCII artpacks from the 80s, 90s, and today — displayed on the biggest screen in your house.
How it works
The app runs a small web server on your local network. Open the URL from your phone or laptop, and you can upload artpacks or browse the 16colo.rs archive — all without touching the remote. Your Apple TV does the rest.
Two ways to watch
Smooth mode scrolls through art with continuous flow and crossfades — the default, meant to be left running. Or switch to Modem mode: a faithful simulation of a dial-up connection, complete with character-by-character reveal, cursor blinking, and the occasional line noise glitch. Pick your baud rate from 300 to 56k.
