Description

Ant Browser: The web, wrist-sized.

Ant Browser now supports full-screen browsing — something most Apple Watch browsers can’t do.

I built Ant Browser because I love my Apple Watch. Whether you’re out running, grabbing a coffee, or just avoiding distractions, Ant Browser puts the web on your wrist so you can leave your phone behind.

Key Features
• Full-screen browsing on Apple Watch
• Works without your iPhone (on cellular models)
• Voice, scribble, and keyboard input + URL auto-complete
• Sync bookmarks across iPhone, iPad, and Watch
• Choose your favourite search engine

Why It’s Useful
• Look up info on the go
• Check movie times, news, book reviews, currency, menus
• Fast, simple, no-fuss browsing on a small screen

What Makes It Different
Ant Browser is purpose-built for Watch. Lightweight, intuitive, and designed to make typing and searching easy. It’s not a phone browser — it’s a quick-access tool for when pulling out your phone feels like too much.

Ant Browser: Less phone, more freedom.

Note: Some videos and images may not load.

What’s New

Version 1.1.8

- Kagi Search Added
- Squashing bugs (not Ants though!)

I can finally browse on my watch again!!

For the longest time, my Apple Watch (series 6) has had a bug where the default WebKit (the one Siri and messages use) does not properly render sites and instead just shows a black page with the URL bar. This bug has also broken all the other browser apps I’ve tried. The remarkable thing about Ant browser in particular is that it manages to get around the rendering bug, which I’m assuming is possible because it doesn’t use the regular WebKit and instead renders it fullscreen via something else. The only complaint I have is that it lags and crashes much more than the regular WebKit (even if I turn off JavaScript) but I’m assuming that it will be optimized more in the future. Additionally, some large sites (like certain Wikipedia articles) completely crash the entire app when viewed in reader mode…

A Handy Browser for My Apple Watch

The lack of reviews made me hesitant to buy this app. Since it was a one-time (and fairly inexpensive) one to buy, as opposed to the more expensive subscriptions so many apps now require, I figured that I would take a chance. I am delighted to report that it works beautifully. Now I can take a quick look at websites on my watch, without drawing attention to it, as it would do if I were instead on my iPhone. I wish it would permit videos to play on my Apple Watch 10, but that is probably a limitation of the watch, itself. At any rate, great app - nicely done.

Best browser for Apple Watch. For real.

By far the best browser for Apple Watch and the only one that allows full screen browsing. Which is a must for such tiny screens. Awesome job.

Developer Response ,

Thanks so much, souskei! Love hearing that it’s working well for you. I agree full screen makes all the difference on the tiny screen.
