The Antler Insanity (AI) App is an easy to use iPhone program for the serious outdoorsman. Written by outdoorsmen, for outdoorsmen. How many times have you needed to know the wind speed and direction at your favorite location, save and store your locations for later viewing on a map, mark and map property boundaries and game trails, share your spots with other club members or friends, keep notes about your favorite spots, sunrise/set times, or walk to or your favorite spots in the predawn hours before the sun rises and you can see? This app makes all that possible, right in the palm of your hand.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

- The ability to obtain current wind speed, direction, and weather at your GPS location using either World Weather Online (WWO) or National Weather Service (US only). This becomes extremely important when you are deciding whether to hunt there or not. if the wind is not right, then your game will know you are there before you even spot them.

- You can store the GPS location of your favorite stand in a database for later mapping and weather information determination. This is extremely helpful because you can retrieve the location later and check its wind data to determine if the spot’s conducive to success prior to going there.

- Mark property boundaries and get acreage and save it, mark game trails and save them.

- Export / Share your Stand List with other AI iPhone App Users! A GREAT feature for hunting clubs, friends, family, etc!

- You can keep notes or a journal with your marked stands. You can also edit the name of a stored location if you decide to rename it.

- The app computes sunrise and sunset times for your current GPS location. The calculations are actually performed internally without the use of charts. Data used in these formulas are your GPS location, calendar data, UTC time and the iPhone's current time zone (determined via cellular connection).

- A set of scoring sheets for selected antlered species (deer, elk, pronghorn, caribou). AI only uses gross scores (no deductions) as we believe your harvest should be judged upon all the bone it has grown. (Scoring worksheets for more antlered species will be added in subsequent versions).

- The iPhone Location Services must be turned on for the GPS location features to be used.

- The GPS locator is best used when the user is outside so a more accurate determination of location can be found.

- The sunrise and set times are computed internally in the app using your GPS location, calendar information, and time zone location as input into actual mathematical equations. Any differences between the AI computed times, as compared to published charts, could be due to round-off differences in the number of seconds.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Basic functions, works

I came from the free Trimble Outdoors App since they are shutting it down. This is a pretty bare bones app that does the basic stuff like marking stands. I do like it gives the distance to the stand as Trimble did not. I also like the "rangefinder" part.

Some of the things I do not like has been the GPS accuracy and the trail marking part does not maintain GPS signal when the phone locks, OR it just isn't maintaining accuracy. The line will bounce around and can draw circles around where you really are. Also I navigated in the dark to a stand location and I could not find it. My location would bounce around and I would go from 20 feet to over 100 feet away then back to 60. I circled the area about 3 times then gave up and found a new tree. My treestand location was 25 yards away. I walked to that tree and remarked it and it still showed me being 60 feet from my original mark.

I wish it had the ability to resume or edit trails I have marked. I have not found that functionality yet.

Great for hunters

This is a great App.... though I hate the new LOGO.
I had the initial release and have used it for multiple years. I delete it in the off season just cause I can't stand seeing the new LOGO. It tends to fly in the face of what I teach my grandchildren. That aside, it's very functional. My only current hang up is in the range finder. It no longer lets you zoom in close enough to range shooting zones. It does however allow you to determine distance to travel to a new area.
I use to use it along with a ballistics app to determine my hold. I especially like the weather/wind and stand list. It has helped me find my stand in the dark more than once.

Excellent mapping capabilities

I recently join a new lease. 3600 acres and 54 food plots. It is hard to get that much property on to one map and then learn the property and remember all those food plots.

Antler Insanity allowed me to create my on map on my phone and mark each food plot as I visited them.

This app is fantastic and Darrin the developer is great. He is always willing to help you learn the app and the best way to utilize al the great features of the app.
