Just click the App for Yammer (y) icon in your toolbar and sign it with your Yammer account, its that simple. You can either run the app with a dock icon or without.
App for Yammer is also including a "stand alone" mode where App for Yammer runs in its own window.
The app is still in a early version, new features will be added along the way.

Sad
Despite the bad reviews, I took a chance and installed the app anyway. Disappointing to say the least. Another web window app and apparently gone bad. After logging in goes page can’t be found. No amount of logging results in successful. Un-installing.

Just a window viewer with no notification abilities.
Although disappointed that it is just a window viewer to the Yammer web site, I will upgrade stars should the new features to come out include items such as notifications, etc.
Otherwise, there is no added value than a separated web browser window.
Cornfirming the same frustrations
Doesn’t open, appears to just be a “window” to the internet page (I can make my own shortcuts for free, and those will WORK, thank you) and haven’t been able to get it to work at all.
