Ratings and Reviews
Great new update, bad ads
I love the new redesign of the app. It’s fresher and easier to read. However, I’ve noticed in the last week that if I click on a video to watch at the top of an article, there is a 30-second ad before the article video plays. Previously, I only saw 15-seconds ads and I didn’t mind them. 30-seconds is too long and I end up closing the app and looking elsewhere. Please limit advertisements to 15-seconds. Also, there is still the glitch that if you turn your phone horizontally while the ad is playing the video freezes. To resolve, you have to go out of the article and tap the video again to start it over. The phone can only be tilted after the ad is done playing.

Thank you for contacting the New York Post and taking the time to share your feedback. While ads are necessary to maintain the free versions of the apps, we are aware that they are often a bit disruptive to the reading experience. We will be sure to pass along all of your feedback here to the app team for review and consideration, especially that potential bug you mentioned. Thanks again for being a loyal reader.
Good not great
I generally like the app and would give it more stars but for a few extremely annoying aspects. First, pop up ads and videos that are impossible to stop and/turn off without clicking on them, which takes you to the advertiser (advertisers - hope you don’t pay by the click). This has gotten increasingly worse. I used to be able to control this but no longer. Second, is the Top News and Latest Stories tabs, combined with failure to refresh with new articles. Instead, they are usually just shuffled over the course of a day. Plus there is no real difference between top news and latest stories - it is the same 10 articles, just in a different order. The other categories rarely change their stories over the course of a day, which defeats the purpose of an app. Need some variance and more updating in all of this. Also need more content checking - misspelled words, missing words at times is understandable with breaking news but not when the article is up for more than a few hours. Despite the foregoing, I still use this app all the time and like it because, overall, the content is different from what you get elsewhere. But the increased pop ups and videos may cause me to delete the app.
The new top stories is AWEFUL. PLEASE GO BACK
**Edit** To the developer response… While you feel it may be more “engaging”, it’s not. As a reader, it is a time waster, time I really don’t have, because now I get one column of stories that are huge and I am having to scroll what seems like endlessly just to see half of what I used to be able to take in. I bet many of your readers feel the same. The other pages were left in the old format, which is a MUCH better, more efficient layout as you have the main top story and then SIDE BY SIDE columns of stories. So it’s easier to see more of what you offer.
If you aren’t going to change the top stories page, then at least add an option to start the app on a different section, like the News, which will at least not waste my time as much as the Top stories does.
Original comments… Who in the WORLD thought this was a good idea??? You have now made it so I see just about HALF the amount of stories I used to in the same amount of space. They are WAY TOO BIG. Oh but hey, those ads are twice as big now. Either go back to the old format or you have completely lost me as a reader.

Thank you for contacting the New York Post and taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate that not all of our dedicated users like you may enjoy this change right away. But we do believe this redesign allows us to serve a much more engaging homepage experience, packed with even more stories and information, more use of photos and video -- more of what you love about The Post. We'll be sure to share your note with the rest of our team. As with any new product, user feedback is something we find incredibly helpful as we continue to grow and improve our products. Thank you again and please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org with any other questions or concerns you may have!
