So the other reviews are not too far off on this. Yes the app is severely lacking in several areas. 1.types of fish you can add to your tank set up if you are trying to customize. 2.It’s lacking in available equipment you can add..heavily bias on the Aqueon products but they don’t have any other real competitors; like fluval, coralife, etc. (marketing ploy)3. The custom light schedule is almost useless. Other than having set times for day light, dawn, night, overnight that’s is. No option to customize the intensity of white or blue light at all like in the preset. That doesn’t make sense if I’m setting a custom time for dawn maybe I want the blue to be less than the white for a more natural feel/look. This applies to if the tank is fresh or saltwater. If I have fresh water i would like more white than blue light, opposite for saltwater. Corals and the like need a more blue leaning light wave to have facilitate health and growth. I’m stuck with my setups since they are bio cubes so new light is not an option. Just hope someone in the R/D lab of the app read this and take some hints..won’t hold my breath.

Worst app I have ever had the misfortune of being forced to use. Will occasionally completely lock you out of interaction with the most basic features of the app (cannot edit light levels or even switch between presets despite device being connected) and the scheduler is a joke that works correctly maybe 50% of the time. I cannot currently even get the light to turn off and as it lacks a physical switch, I have to attempt to troubleshoot a UI that seems to have been hand crafted by some Arkham escapee to create maximum frustration with as little intuitive design as possible. If you are reading this review you will likely have to subject yourself to this regardless but I would like you to know that this is the first ever review I have written for any product and while I really hope you have no issues, the other reviews seem to show a pretty clear pattern. Buy something else if you can, good luck if you can’t.

Paid extra for the more expensive “OptiBright Smart LED Light” so it can be adjusted and have a set schedule with a nice app. Even with 2.4ghz this will not connect to my router that is 5 feet away from it. i’ve worked with internet/wifi for a job before so i’m not new to this process of troubleshooting. I have a ton of devices in my house and never have any issues. I’ve spent a couple hours in total trying to get it to work (router,device itself,etc) with no success. The store i’d need to drive to for an exchange is 45 minutes away in the city so i’m not going to exchange it just to get all the way home and have another product that doesn’t work. Light is cool though 👍 App is trash 👎 get a different light if you want a set schedule or a less expensive one if you don’t care for a schedule.

I spent about $130 on this light and the least I would expect is the light to function reliably. I don’t even care about the features but Jesus at least have an external control instead of having to use an app. How are you as a company going to rollout a light that SOLELY relies on the app and have the app feel like it has never been tested practically. There are constant error messages and I understand that the route has to be set to a certain setting but there’s no other way around this? It feels like Aqueon hired a group of 5 junior devs in high school with the combined experience of community college comp sci course. This is an embarrassment to the name of Aqueon and you should all be ashamed of yourselves. I will be returning this “product” so don’t bother replying to this product with your bogus messages about updates being rolled out.
