Works great (2022)

As of January, 2022, the app works great. No complaints. Connected quickly via Bluetooth, immediately displayed the most recent readings and battery status. Historical charts are great for experimenting with environmental factors and seeing changes. The aranet4 Home is an expensive sensor, but it does everything it claims to do perfectly.

Tap the line chart icon or any of the displayed values to view historical charts. From the graph, you can export and share the data as a CSV file.

Tap the gear to adjust a sensor’s settings: frequency of readings (1, 2, 5, or 10 minutes), enable the buzzer, increase the bluetooth range, enable/disable smart home integration, update the firmware, customize the good/average/unhealthy ranges, turn on calibration mode (warning: the aranet4 is well-calibrated out of the box, and once you manually calibrate it there’s no way to go back to the factory calibration), and give the sensor a name.

The app’s settings (hamburger menu) let you adjust the language (English/Latvian), units of measurement for temp and pressure, enable a fullscreen mode, and enable a mode to keep the screen on.

Not bad, but room for improvement.

I really like my Aranet4. I bring it with me, in my purse. I showed my Doc that the air in his temporary office is really bad. (He’s now getting his own Aranet, AND working on improving the air quality!)

My biggest complaint about the device is, after reading reviews from others, I felt I needed to purchase a 3-D printed cover and a case for Boise portable speakers to protect it in my purse. The 3-D should be part of the device. A carry case that properly fits the Aranet4 should be optional.

I’ve had it about a month. This is what I think about the app:

It NEEDS an Apple Watch app!

The app allows a user to see only one week of data, or export 1.5 weeks. Unfortunately, anything older is lost. I wish it held a summary (at least) of more historical data.

I wish the export function had options: Date range, all data, or summary by hourly or daily (date, high, low, and time)

Like most apps, the display closes after a short time, but stays open on the “Aranet4 Display.” That app won’t allow changes in intervals, so I end up using two apps.

When I’m at home, I monitor in 10 minute intervals; when in public I go to 1 minute measurements. I wish it was easier to change the intervals.

It would be nice if it had a GPS function, to show where it was when measuring. A “Find my” wouldn’t be bad, either.

Other than these improvements, my only other recommendation is to have better instructions for both the device and the apps.

Nice interface, just needs a way to add notes!

The app is a nice interface to the Aranet monitor, and makes it way easier to change settings (like temp units) versus the ultra-mini hardware switches. The graphs are a nice feature, particularly if you leave the monitor in one location. It would be next level if you could tag timepoints on the graphs with sticky notes, with say, a press and hold to add note, and a tap to open. Also, good on the Devs for not collecting data!!

Thank you for a positive feedback! Your idea about sticky notes is added to the list of requested functionality.
