Had this app ages ago (think back around iPhone 4s) & deleted it after first use. Glad I gave it another shot! I love being able to add my tickets through Apple Wallet instead of having to dig through my email for the barcode. Also really love that it gives me a barcode for my membership instead of having to announce my phone number to everyone within earshot.
No Apple Pay support, no iPhone X support
Basic features I expect in a movie ticket purchasing focused app that are missing in this app:
1. Uses your location to display theaters closest to you. This app displayed a California theatre as the first result when I’m in Illinois. I granted the app access to my location upon first launch, so why did it ask to use my location if it’s not providing value to me?
2. Apple Pay support for checking out, so I don’t have to manually type in my credit card info.
3. iPhone X full screen support. I see black bars on top and bottom in this app. iPhone X is the #1 selling iPhone in 2018. These are customers who are willing to pay a premium for the best experience.
In addition, I wasn’t able to redeem free rewards tickets through the app. I was instructed to go to the web site.
Something that went right: I was able to add my purchased tickets pass to Apple Wallet.
Overall, I don’t see how this app is any better than using their web site experience.
Theaters are on the more expensive side but if you are planning to go to one of their "Presents" screenings then it pays to buy the membership because you get two free tickets to a "Presents" screening. The app makes everything incredibly easy.
Had one hiccup with sending tickets to someone. It let me email but not text them from the app. Small inconvenience and might have been user error anyway.
