Disappointed and discouraged
The app is not very user friendly. It's improved a little with time but it is still lacking. I have the Arlo pro 2 camera and the video quality is good. I use it to view details after-the-fact. I would not recommend it for live interaction. I have 400mps down and 20mps up and while I'm in my home it takes 10-15 second to connect and once connected there is a noticable delay. There is no way to conduct a conversation. I also purchased the Arlo doorbell and chime. I had to contact customer service multiple times because when someone would ring the doorbell it would take roughly 10 plus seconds from the time they rang the doorbell for the chime to sound and for my phone to ring by that time the person would ring the doorbell again. And trying to view the video while using the app to communicate is hit or miss. By the time it connects I usually get up and answer the door. This is while I'm at home. If I'm away from home "forget about it" Customer service had me reset, reboot, and disconnect the software, camera, base station and network to ultimately tell me to wait for an update. I waited 8 months then sold the doorbell and chime. I decided to purchase the ring 2 which works without any issues. The video quality is not as good as the Arlo camera but at least it works the way it should.
This might sound like I'm critiquing the hardware but the software controls it all. "Details matter, it's worth waiting to get it right"

Way too slow/no community connection
The cameras are far too slow to start recording once they detect motion. For instance, by the time my front porch camera detects motion and starts recording, the person is already turned around and halfway down our sidewalk. No face or activity to be seen. And the app takes forever to load up to the live feed of your cameras. If my phone notifies me there is motion at the garage, and I just want to look at the feed, I’ve timed it, it takes around 25-30 seconds to connect. And that’s on a full WiFi connection. It’s not worth the $200 I paid for two cameras and a home base. Not to mention, the night vision is useless. We can’t see a thing in the back yard at night. The “night vision” only works on the left front yard where the street light hits, or if we have the garage light on. There is also no community app like RING offers. If someone were to break into our house or cars, we don’t have a means to share the video with neighbors around us using Arlo (probably because everyone has returned this awful system and there is no need for a community app) Don’t waste your money. I know I want mine back, but Walmart wouldn’t let us return it within their “guidelines”. We had only owned it for 4 days, but it was too “worn”.

Works Faster- Maybe was patched??
Edit/Update: Original review below. Wow, after having this for a couple days now, the glitches have risen. App gives me wrong number of notifications and sometimes it takes a few moments to load my recording. I’m still having success logging in quickly and viewing my devices quickly (under 10 seconds). Its definitely faster than the last app but I think there needs to be a change with how long its taking to trigger events, get a notification, and finally view video. Way too long. My Skybell doorbell thats integrated with my alarm system takes less time and the app isn’t as polished.
I saw a lot of complaints about this app being slower and worse than the previous Arlo (Legacy) app. For me, it is working way faster overall. I can switch between menus instantly and Going into “modes” occurs in about a second before I can change the mode. I can go from notification to viewing my device in about 8 seconds. Ran multiple tests and its definitely faster than Legacy app. I agree that the previous app was slower and took a bit yo view cameras and I always waited a bit to be able to arm or disarm but I’m not seeing that in this app. All the main options seem the same. I’ve only been playing with it for one day. System is Arlo Pro 2 x four cameras. I have a iPhone X and eero mesh network system and 150mb connection through my provider.
