What is artics?
artics is an app that offers a simple yet enjoyable way to display your passions on a single screen. You can include your favorite music, films, TV shows, anime, books, and fine arts to create an "artics Board.” When meeting new people at SXSW, showing your artics board can quickly uncover common interests, making it easier to start conversations and get to know each other.
When you create your board on our app, we'll connect you with someone at SXSW who shares your passions.
You'll also find events where others with similar passions are gathering.
artics is not about reviews or critiques (nor focuses on status or visuals like other social media).
It's all about utilizing your passions to convey your emotions and thoughts within a authentic, real name community.
What is artics board and why SXSW?
artics Board is the digital version of the "Hen'ai Map," a popular communication tool in Japan where people write down their interests on a sheet of paper.
Created by Saito Takashi, a renowned educationalist with over 400 publications, its use in schools, workshops, and social events has widely validated its effectiveness in enhancing communication. It has also gained popularity online, evidenced by millions of Google searches and daily X posts.
We're now adapting this method for SXSW 2024, aiming to recapture its original passionate and interactive spirit.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that I might have found the perfect app to meet people with the same music taste as me. Thanks to the niche communities that we gradually built, I was able to discover new artists that don’t have a big following yet, which is super cool considering all the mainstream artists that I usually listen to everyday. I definitely recommend for people that want to meet people with the same interest.

Being able to use my artics board as an icebreaker when meeting someone has sparked conversations I would never have had otherwise, and I can invite friends to the app who share similar music tastes and passions to discuss our favorite artists and songs!
A diary of taste
I’ve always lost track of movies and songs I liked and had watched but w artics I started actually keeping track and recommending movies to my friends. But bc I got my friends to use this I started getting good recommendations too.
TLDR: a social media that can help you show off your good tastes 👩🎨👍
