Articulate L was created by an ASHA certified and licensed speech-language pathologist. It is an essential tool for anyone who needs practice using the /l/ phoneme, including English language learners. Articulate L is suitable for those who omit or distort the /l/ sound. It is also useful for those who substitute a “w” or a “y” for the “l” sound. The app consists of 145 words and images which give the user “l” practice through auditory bombardment or flashcard drilling. A fun and visually appealing matching game keeps users motivated to practice their articulation while they play.
Use this app to address the phonological processes of liquid gliding, cluster simplification, weak syllable deletion and final consonant deletion. Users can practice producing /l/ in various phonetic contexts, including:
• initial /l/ 1 syllable
• initial /l/ multisyllabic
• inter-syllabic /l/ 2 syllables
• inter-syllabic /l/ 3+ syllables
• final /l/
• initial /pl/
• initial /bl/

As a voice coach and teacher of speech, I constantly come across those in need of help with pronunciation issues. This app is a wonderful way for kids to play with their much beloved technology while working to overcome those issues.
