The Death of Adobe Illustrator ...(not really, but almost)

I’m stopping to write this out of some frustration I’ve run into that I can’t blame entirely on Assembly, but I also can’t not blame them for allowing things to end up in their current state without some safeguards in place.

My issue is with the fact that my iPad Pro has been crawling and struggling just to open anything in this app - it reminds me of working publications/graphic design back before 2k with PowerMac 8500s that had 80 megabytes of RAM and 4 GB HDs. It was sloooowww. Even Adobe Illustrator, which assembly is a practical alternative version of, with its vectors and lack of dense rasterized images would have performance issues. But those days should be in the past.

I believe it is mainly because my documents are all in my cloud. And because there is a lot of them it seems to get traffic jammed. Sometimes I can’t open anything while other times it takes so long to get something opened only to have a error message telling me I can’t edit the document.

Maybe the vectors are by and large too complex ?
I have been using the imaengine app to .svg photos into assembly which could be the culprit also. iCloud can be slow, but not operational Death slow ...

*im also using test flight for new versions - it would be great to hear from the dev to give me some hint as to which of these things could be responsible for the maddening crawl.
Had to subtract a star until I figure this out.

Great! But some suggestions..

This app is super helpful for me, especially because I do freelance logo design here and there. This has a lot more features than one would expect from a phone application. Absolutely killer! I’ve had this app for a while and I can’t help but notice that the “save video” option has changed. Now you get four different options for how the video will get played back. While those transitions do look pretty cool, I miss the video playback style where it was just a time lapse of every change that was made from the blank canvas to the final product. It was always super satisfying to watch my projects come together and it helped me a lot to see which shapes and methods I ditched and which ones I used along the way. It was also funny to show my friends and see their reaction to my almost-creepy desire for every little thing to be perfect😂 also if you could create an option to erase parts of shapes in the shape editor, that’d be cool! With a hardness adjuster and all the other standard things that an erase/fill brush should come with! Just a thought. My main thing is that I really miss the timelapse-style playback! PLEASE BRING THAT BACK!!! Thank you! :)

Thanks for the great suggestions! We have an Assembly feature request forum where you can add ideas for future releases. We'd love if you wanted to add your suggestions there - https://assembly.uservoice.com
