Ratings and Reviews
Solid implementation of an excellent game
Azul is a great board game, and the devs did a great job implementing some pretty reasonable computer opponents (I have the free version and have only played up through intermediate). It’s a fun and relaxing game to play while listening to audiobooks or whenever you need to kill some time.
A couple extensions that would be awesome -
I’d love it if the devs could add an option to toggle speeding up the scoring phase animations - once you’ve gotten the hang of how scoring works, it can feel a little bit slow waiting for the scores to be marked on the screen.
It would also be awesome to add the free-pattern board (though that probably adds some complexity to implementing the AI).
Thanks for bringing this game to our phones!
Developer Response ,
Thank you for your feedback.
We are working on improving and speeding up the scoring phase.
Regarding the free-pattern board, we have plans to release it for multiplayer games, but adding it to AI games will take us way more time, and we are planning to release extra bot difficulties before free-pattern AI games.
Thank you for your support. Stay tuned for new updates!
Wrong Scoring
I love this game and so glad it is finally in an app. The app is great, but frustrating when I take one tile but 4 go into the negative slot. I know how the game is played, if I don’t have room for them they go in that row, but this is different. There is only one to take so I take it, but the game automatically gives me an extra 4 or 5. I thought maybe I just wasn’t paying attention the first few times it happened so I started really paying attention. It is random, but not sure why the game randomly gives me negative tiles that were never there to begin with. For example, I take 1 red to go into my empt slot and I have room for 3 more, and there is only one on the disc or in the middle, but the one red goes to the row I designate and the 4 reds go into the negative row. There was only 1 red to grab to begin with. I wish this would get fixed.
Developer Response ,
Thanks for reporting this issue. We will investigate it.
For the time being, can you confirm there isn't any label with the text "x 5" or "x 6" (or similar) next to the single tile you are collecting? That would mean there are 5 tiles or 6 tiles of that tile color, despite the fact that only one is graphically rendered.
If you wish, you can keep contacting us by tapping on "Report a problem" after tapping the Settings cog in the Main Menu.
Bug in scoring
There appears to be a bug in how the game scores tiles that must go in the negative score row. I have tried this several times and see this occur often. I will take one or two tiles that I cannot put in a row, so they must go in the negative score row. But, the game populates the entire penalty row with the tile instead of one or two spaces, subtracting all 14 points from my score. The instructions in the tutorial as well as the instructions in the real physical game do not call this massive penalty out so this seems to be a bug. Otherwise this would be a solid game.
Update - now I’m being asked to subscribe to this game for $3 a month. I don’t think so. I don’t mind paying one price for the game but I’m not going to subscribe to a game. That makes no sense for a game like this.
Developer Response ,
We had detected that this bug was happening occasionally in some of our old versions. Please download the last app version to not experience this bug anymore.
Update (to answer your edit): The score issue only happened in one of our first beta versions and in 1 out of 1000~ games. Also, it got fixed quickly.
And no, the app doesn't ask anyone to subscribe to anything. The app is free to play, and subscribing is optional. We wouldn't have thousands of happy players playing daily if what you say is true.
Kind regards
