Had to do virtual this year and was worried about the ATC virtual app. I should have known better. ATC made this a fun run. Nothing is ever gonna be as much fun as the actual run down peachtree but that “finish line” recording the app produced as I crossed the virtual finish was absolutely the best!! The app worked like a charm, calling my time/distance splits at every mile. My only regret is that I didn’t set my phone for “do not disturb”—every time I got a text I was worried the app would bonk. But no worries—the app kept right on doing what it was designed to do.Hopefully The Wingfoot might do a follow-up article on how this was developed. I can’t tell you all how much I appreciate the time and planning it took to develop this app. It was a nice way to help the virtual runners feel more connected to the actual race. I was so anxious about watching my grandson run in the junior Peachtree, but with the app, I did not lose Hope. I just kept waiting and watching because the app was tracking him very well and just as he approached the finish line and went under the banner it showed his time, having kept me from wondering where he was.😃😊

It’s not easy to swap between results of different events that you’ve participated in, and sometimes they just disappear? Like I was checking back on a previous event and the most recent one was then gone from my profile. The userability is not intuitive. I feel like there’s a lot of room for improvement. As of now, the app feels pointless. You’d also think it would include race photos but it doesn’t. I honestly don’t know why it’s worth having the app unless you’re not running the race and want to track someone who is. That seems to be its only value.

This app has been a long time coming. I just hope that, in due time, more features will be added. Hopefully the ‘let’s do this’ platform will be replaced in full by this app. The UI is clean and flows really well. I appreciate the fact that race results are available asap!
