AudioNote™
Ratings & Reviews
I am a nursing student and this app is awesome! U can make notes and doodle in it while listening to the recording. I love how I can pause and continue recording whenever we go for our breaks. Also, i love how i can separate my recordings by topics and put them in a folder of my choosing. Despite the above mentioned awesome features, there are additional tweaks that can elevate this app further. To name a few... It would be great if there was a way to make bulleted notes. Also, it would be great if there was an option to underline, italicize and bold my words. The highlight feature needs improvement because it works when ur in Text mode then it's all weird when u go back to read it; it's showing different highlighted words and rearranges the whole thing. Also, it would be great if the back button and recording button weren't too close cuz my recording gets cut off!!! can u pls add an option where it can continue to the next recording? Anther great one to add would be like an audio marker or something of that sort. I hate having to go through 2hrs worth of lecture jst trying to find the subject I'm looking for. Lastly, is there a way where a recording can be emailed without it being too large or having to be converted? Im not computer illiterate, but i am not that great in figuring all these hack moves either. I jst want an easy seamless file transfer or copies of my noted without having to do some research on how to make a large file small enough to email. Despite all that, I am still very happy that I decided to get this after a classmate suggested this! In fact, now most of our class and other nursing level students are using this now too!! :) thank u audionote!!
AudioNote is a great simultaneous note taking and recording app that not only syncs words but also provides the time key within the audio recording allowing the user to go directly to that point in the audio record. I have been using the application for months and find it to be extremely useful in being able to listen to meeting conservations instead of missing conversations as you hurriedly try to scribble something down. Keywords, issues can simply be typed in in short format and you can go back to the audio later for the details. That said, there is one glaring problem with the application. AudioNotes are extremely difficult to share. Your other meeting members either must have iPads or the AudioNote version for the Mac. Given that businesses still heavily use PCs (yes, I know, some people and business are slow to pick up on the better tools in life) it is difficult to share your notes with the other PC person. For now, unless a method of sharing notes is developed that is universal, I can not rate the app beyond 4 stars. It would be best to find a method to export these notes easily rather than having to do it via iTunes or WiFi connections.
This week I began a college intro accounting class and found this app in preparation for the class. I have to say that this app is an excellent tool. I never opened the app after download until sitting down to the first lecture and was pleasantly surprised at the ease with which I was able to navigate the app. It afforded me the ability to record the lecture audio, so I could pay attention without scrambling to jot something down so as not to forget it and chance missing something else. Later, I was able to go back to the lecture, play it back, write my notes (with time flags) I just paused when I needed to type at length. If I went back later and added something, all I have to do for correct time stamp is back audio to that point and begin typing. In addition I was able to highlight important points. It offers an email option for the file though I haven't tried it yet. I have an ancient iPad 2 (lol) and have had no problems at all. Operation thus far has been excellent. I will be recommending this app to my classmates next week. Great work!
I've always found it difficult to give both note taking and meeting participation enough attention for both to be top notch. With Audionote this is no longer a problem. I write cursory notes highlighting important parts, then am able to go back, click on the note, and hear the corresponding audio to make more detailed notes. I've been using Audinote for a while, but held off on rating it until they added a really critical feature for me, background recording. Now that they have added background recording I feel comfortable giving this a 5-star review. Cons: as with any app that uses the internal microphone, if you touch/type on the iPad the noise comes through loudly in the recording. I am using two solutions for that. I small meetings I set my iPad in front of me on the smart cover stand and use a bluetooth keyboard to type. In larger halls where the presenter is too far away for the internal mic, I use the iPad camera adapter to hook up a USB audio input connected to a telescoping microphone.
I have used this app to record the shenanigans of my house closing, negotiations with psycho boarders, and others who's memory doesn't jibe with reality. I am disabled and bedridden and this app has given me more peace of mind in dangerous situations than the local Sheriff's Dept.. This app gave me a remotely backed up recording and commentary from the times we were being terrorized by a really bad choice of boarder -- a person that turned out to have rage problems and threatened to obtain a gun from his drug-dealing friend and shoot my wife and my stepson. Despite the statutes that are supposed to protect the elderly and disabled from just such a problem, the Sheriff's dept. refused to help on the grounds that this guy didn't have the pistol in his hand at the time he made his threats. This app allowed me to document all of this and get minimal help but help nonetheless from the Dept. of Children and Families. The only things that I would like to see added are electronic signatures and encryption, and syncing with cloud storage periodically as recording continues. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this app!
I love this app but I find myself constantly hitting the folder button (upper left button) by accident when trying to review my notes. This is very annoying because I start back from the beginning instead of where I left off when I go back into my notes. I wish the buttons weren't so close and so small because its very inconvenient, not to mention a waste of time of having to look for where I left off. Maybe they can make a drop down box to prevent this from reoccurring? Another thing is that I wish I could have the option to edit my notes and continue my recording where I left off after the lecture has been recorded as opposed to continue the recording from the end. I love the clarity of the audio and the new photo feature. Would love it more if I could zoom in and out of the photos without having to manipulate the settings. Overall I'm happy with the App but wish for the developers to improve on these two items.
